This phrase came to me while listening to an anointed speaker. The speaker said, “The fewer words we use, the more power is released.”
When Jesus dealt with challenging situations, He often used only a few words. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead by saying, “Lazarus, come forth!” Even when God created light, He simply said, “Let there be light.”
Our words are powerful, so we should use them wisely. We don’t always need more words—we need the right words.
Come Before God Listening Before Speaking
Ecclesiastes 5:1–6 NLT teaches us to come before God with our ears open and not be hasty with our words. Verse 2 reminds us:
“Let your words be few.”
Sometimes we need to become quiet enough to hear what God is saying before we speak.
Only Speak What God Gives You in Challenges
John 12:49 NLT: Jesus said that He did not speak on His own authority. The Father told Him what to say and how to say it.
When challenges come, we don’t have to say everything that comes to mind. Listen to God and speak what He gives you to say.
Speak God’s Written Word in Faith
1 John 5:14–15 teaches that when we ask according to God’s will, He hears us.
Jesus demonstrated this in Luke 4:3–13. When Satan tempted Him, Jesus didn’t argue or use many words. He repeatedly answered with the written Word:
“It is written.”
God’s Word spoken in faith is powerful. Instead of talking repeatedly about the problem, speak what God has already said.
Remember:
Listen more. Speak less. Speak God’s Word.
Prayer
God, thank You for the Holy Spirit and Your written Word to guide me through life. I repent for not choosing my words carefully and for talking too much.
Help me to be still, listen more, and allow You to give me the words to speak. Set a guard over my mouth and keep watch over the door of my lips. During challenges, I choose to speak Your Word and only what You tell me to say.
I am quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. In quietness and few words, I find strength to conquer every challenge. Thank You for the victory through Jesus! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
