As believers, we often get excited when we receive revelation from God. Revelation may come while reading His Word, through encouragement from other believers, or through an anointed messenger of God. These moments strengthen our faith and give us direction.

However, many believers do not realize that tests often come immediately after revelation is received.

The enemy wants to steal the word before it can produce fruit in our lives.

Scripture explains this clearly:

Mark 4:14 (KJV)
“The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.”

When we receive revelation, we must hold on to it. If we do not guard the Word, the enemy will try to steal it through doubt, fear, distractions, or difficult situations.

One of the best ways to hold on to revelation is by continually staying connected to God.

  • Meditate on the Word
  • Speak the Word
  • Listen to the Word

Jesus warned us to remain in His light.

John 12:35 (NLT)
“Jesus replied, ‘My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going.’”

When we walk in the light of God’s Word, we are able to resist the darkness that tries to overtake us.

Jesus also spoke about the importance of holding firmly to the Word.

Luke 8:15 (ESV)
“As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.”

God’s Word produces fruit in our lives when we hold on to it with patience and faith.

Meditating on God’s Word helps us stay rooted and grounded.

Psalm 1:2–3 (NKJV)
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.”

When we meditate on God’s Word day and night, we become spiritually strong and stable like a tree planted by water.

Some Revelations Should Be Protected

There are times when God gives us a revelation that should not be shared immediately. Some revelations must be protected until they manifest.

Habakkuk 2:3 (NIV)
“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”

Sometimes sharing too soon can open the door to doubt, criticism, or discouragement. Wisdom helps us know when to speak and when to remain quiet until God brings the revelation to pass.

Walk in Love So Faith Can Work

Faith works best when we walk in love. God is love, and He commands us to live in love with others.

Galatians 5:6 (Easy Version)
“We belong to Christ Jesus… The only thing that matters is that we believe in Christ. As a result we will love others in the way that we live.”

Love keeps our hearts right before God.

Galatians 5:14–15 (Amplified)
“For the whole Law concerning human relationships is fulfilled in one precept: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
But if you bite and devour one another in bickering and strife, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.”

When believers allow strife, arguments, and bitterness, it weakens our faith and damages relationships.

Personal Reflection

Recently my pastor spoke about God’s discipline. Soon after hearing that message, I was tested.

Unfortunately, I failed the test.

But thank God that every day we have an opportunity to repent and start again.

One of my weaknesses is sometimes trying to justify myself or getting overly excited and speaking before listening. During that situation, God corrected me and reminded me that I have nothing to prove to anyone.

Through Jesus Christ, I am already justified by faith.

God is still working on me to become quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. I prayed and asked God to help me overcome this weakness.

God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. I am grateful for His correction.

The Bible reminds us that God disciplines those He loves.

Whom the Lord loves, He corrects.

I am grateful to be loved and chosen by God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your Word and the revelation You give to Your people. Help me to guard the Word that You place in my heart. When the enemy comes to steal the revelation You have given me, give me the strength to stand firm in faith.

Teach me to meditate on Your Word day and night so that it becomes rooted deeply within me. Help me to speak Your Word, listen to Your voice, and walk daily in Your light so that darkness cannot overtake me.

Lord, give me wisdom to know when to share the revelation You have given me and when to wait patiently for it to manifest in Your perfect timing.

Create in me a heart that walks in love toward others. Remove strife, pride, and selfishness from my life so that my faith may work effectively.

Father, thank You for correcting me when I make mistakes. Thank You that Your discipline is a sign of Your love. Help me to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.

Strengthen me in my weaknesses and continue shaping me into the person You have called me to be.

I trust You, Lord, and I hold firmly to every promise You have spoken.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Before You Go…

If today’s message encouraged you, I invite you to take the next step.
