It Can Kill You Or Build You!

God used my Aunt Mary who spoke the phrase for the blog as she shared to me about the goodness of God. We can become a victim or a victor. We can allow our circumstances to stress us or to stretch us higher in our faith and in God.

Esther had a choice to make. An unjust law was sent out to kill the Jews. The law was influenced by Haman after Mordecai would not bow down to Haman. King Xerxes signed it. In Esther Chapter 4 Mordecai sent a message to Esther: 13  “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. 14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” 17 So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him.

In Esther Chapter 5 Esther got dressed in her royal apparel on the third day of fasting and approached the King unannounced and requested a banquet for the king and Haman. In Esther 7 Esther informed the king about the plot Haman planned against her and her people, the Jews. The trap Haman had for the Jews backfired and he was killed instead from the pole. Esther people were freed.

2 Kings 7:3-7 NLT:Now there were four men with leprosy sitting at the entrance of the city gates. “Why should we sit here waiting to die?” they asked each other. “We will starve if we stay here, but with the famine in the city, we will starve if we go back there. So we might as well go out and surrender to the Aramean army. If they let us live, so much the better. But if they kill us, we would have died anyway.”So at twilight they set out for the camp of the Arameans. But when they came to the edge of the camp, no one was there! For the Lord had caused the Aramean army to hear the clatter of speeding chariots and the galloping of horses and the sounds of a great army approaching. “The king of Israel has hired the Hittites and Egyptians to attack us!” they cried to one another. So they panicked and ran into the night, abandoning their tents, horses, donkeys, and everything else, as they fled for their lives.

Testimony: A co-worker made false statements about me to a supervisor. I vented to my dad about it. My dad told me “pray for those that say all manner of evil against you.” I began to pray for her. She came to me and apologized for not being truthful. I forgave her and witnessed to her. She ended up getting saved and went to my church along with her husband and children.

Prayer: Thank you God for sending me an example, Jesus. He went through the pain and cross for me. Now I can face any challenge through trusting in Jesus. God always causes me to triumph through Him. I use my challenges I face to activate my faith and take me higher in God. In Jesus name! Amen!

Be Selective and Become More Effective!

The phrase came to me as I decided to crucify my flesh listening to an anointed pastor. My flesh was saying watch tv early and do bible study later. I decided to feed my spirit man instead and do the natural later. I kept saying God what am I going to do the blog on? As a result of me crucifying my flesh and listening to the word of God, the title came to me for the blog. In order to be effective in the kingdom of God, we have to yield to God and the Holy spirit to make the right decisions. It takes faith to do that. In some areas of our lives we use faith on and in other areas we struggle because we have not yielded them over to God. How do we get faith to overcome the flesh ?

Everything begins with the word of God. John 1:1;14 says in the beginning was the word. The word was with God and the word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Hearing the word helps our faith. Romans 10:17 NLT: 17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Isaiah 53:5 NLT: “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you.

Meditation daily helps us with our faith. Joshua 1:8-9 New Living Translation:  Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

John 8:31-32 New King James Version:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Consult with God and not your own reasoning. Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT:Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

Fasting helps with our faith. Matthew 17:19-21 NKJV: 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Obeying God’s word and what God tells us to do. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 NLT: “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God.

A pastor once said, faith begins where the will of God is known. The word of God is the will of God. Everything begins and ends with the word of God. Meditate on, hear, and obey the word of God, not your own conclusions. Fast as needed to heighten your spiritual senses. Watch the results and influence you will have on the earth.

Be selective and become more effective.

Testimony: I was supposedly using my faith by quoting scriptures. God told me “You are doing it out of desperation and fear, not faith, and that is why it is not working for you. I begin to start meditating, hearing, and reading the word of God. God would tell me what scripture to use for my faith. I spoke the word of God in faith and in confidence and the manifestation came.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for creating me for your purpose to glorify your name,. I repent of leaning to my own understanding and reasoning. I yield to the spirit by growing my faith through meditating, hearing, and obeying what you tell me to do. I sow to the spirit and reap life and peace so I can be effective here on the earth. In Jesus name! Amen.

Jesus Came To Take Away My Shame!

I was listening to a song and begin praising God and the phrase came for the blog. God sent His only Son Jesus to die for our sins. He bore it all on the cross. We no longer have to live under the shame of our past, or our sins.

Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life and no longer live under shame.

Romans 10:9-10 NLT: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

John 3:16 NLT: 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Luke 23:39-43 NLT:39 One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!”40 But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Renew your mind to the kingdom of God to remember who you are in Christ.

Romans 12:2 NLT: Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT: 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

If you mess up as a believer, repent and start back on the right track.

1 John 1:9 NLT: But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Romans 8:1-2 Amplified: Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]. For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

Proverbs 24:16 CSB: 16 Though a righteous person falls seven times,
he will get up, but the wicked will stumble into ruin.

Testimony: I was in church as a child and baptized at six years of age. I went through the motions, said the words for salvation, but I didn’t really believe and receive Jesus into my heart. I was under condemnation and judging others because of the sin in my own heart. My brother called me out on it. At 18, I repented and asked Jesus to really come into my heart and save me. I have not been the same. I have so much joy. Even when I mess up, I repent and get back on the right track.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die for my sins. I thank you God because I accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of my life,I am made new. I repent of my current sins and get back in Christ. Now I no longer have to live under condemnation. Thank Jesus for taking away my shame! I can now come boldly before your throne of grace and find grace to help in times of trouble by trusting and believing in you. I give you the praise! In Jesus name! Amen!

Often Get Away, To Pray

The phrase came to me as I was reading the word of God. Prayer helps us navigate life through the good, bad, and the ugly. It helps us to recharge and reset so we can pour into others.

Luke 5:16: 15 But despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.

Daniel 6:10 ERV:10 Daniel always prayed to God three times every day. Three times every day, he bowed down on his knees to pray and praise God.

Luke 18:1-8 NLT: One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

Testimony: I enjoy the gift God gave me to encourage other people. However, I was at work and I felt drained and depressed. I poured out and my cup was empty. I decided to put time in and take off work for a day. I started to think about it even more and took off the whole week because I was literally at a point of breaking down. I used that time to spend time with God through praise/worship, listening to the word of God, reading God’s word , and prayer. It gave me the recharge I needed. I came back to work refreshed joyful and no longer depressed or feeling drained. I understood why Jesus got away often to recharge especially with the assignment He had. I even got the answer to what I was going through emotionally. An anointed preacher came on and talked about what I was going through.

Prayer: Jesus you left me an example to follow in your footsteps. You often got away to pray to God. God your word says I should always pray and never lose heart. I rejoice always, pray without ceasing and in everything I give thanks because this is your will for my life. If I pray anything according to your word you hear me and I know I have my petition. As I pray I forgive in order that my prayers will not be hindered. I pray so I won’t enter into temptation. I am anxious for nothing, but by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving; I make my request known unto you God. Then the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. I give you thanks for it, in Jesus name! Amen.

When The Rainbow Shine, Everything is Fine!

Today is Saint Patrick’s Day. We see a symbol of a pot of gold with a rainbow at the end celebrating the holiday with other symbols like the green leaf clover, and leprechaun with the hat. From the blog Not Just Luck, It’s God I Trust, we learned that Saint Patrick brought Christianity to the Irish. He made such an impact until after his death they celebrated him on March 17th (check out the blog.) Each time we see a rainbow it is normally after the rain or a storm. It let’s us know that the storm is over. We all go through storms. However, with the help of God we can make it over to the other side. God gives us confirmation that the storm is over.

Genesis 9:12-17 NLT: 12 Then God said, “I am giving you a sign of my covenant with you and with all living creatures, for all generations to come. 13 I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. 14 When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, 15 and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life. 16 When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth.” 17 Then God said to Noah, “Yes, this rainbow is the sign of the covenant I am confirming with all the creatures on earth.

Testimony: God gave me a scripture as a sign my storm was over. God told me to stand still and see the salvation of God Exodus 14:13. I wanted to fix my problem on my own concerning my finances. I got a scripture as a sign that God has already taken care of my situation. The date the bill was due the finances came. God took me to the end of my faith.

When the rainbow shine everything is fine!

Prayer: I am grateful to you God for the covenant you made for me. Thank you for the blessing you have given me. I trust you God with every challenge in my life. I hold on to your word and what you tell me as a sign everything is fine and that I will make it to the other side. In Jesus name! Amen.

You Can Have God’s Power, This Very Hour!

God gave my dad the title to the blog as we were talking about the power of God. We need power to operate natural things such as electricity. The spiritual is the same way. We need the power of the Holy Spirit in order to overcome temptation, for healing, to overcome evil, to work in our assignment God called us to, and walk in God’s kind of love.

The first thing to receive spiritual power is accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives in order to activate the spiritual realm.

John 1:12 KJV:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Romans 10:9-10 NLT: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

Ephesian 2:8-9 ERV: I mean that you have been saved by grace because you believed. You did not save yourselves; it was a gift from God. You are not saved by the things you have done, so there is nothing to boast about. 10 God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would spend our lives doing the good things he had already planned for us to do.

Once we receive our salvation we activate the Holy Spirit that is living on the inside to take us to another level in our faith.

Acts 1:8 TLB: But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power to testify about me with great effect, to the people in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth, about my death and resurrection.

Acts 2:1-3 TLB: Seven weeks had gone by since Jesus’ death and resurrection, and the Day of Pentecost had now arrived. As the believers met together that day, suddenly there was a sound like the roaring of a mighty windstorm in the skies above them and it filled the house where they were meeting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on their heads. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in languages they didn’t know, for the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

Fasting from the natural things and tuning into the spiritual gives us power. It is just like charging a cell phone.

Isaiah 58:6;8 Amplified: [Rather] is this not the fast which I choose, To undo the bonds of wickedness, To tear to pieces the ropes of the yoke, To let the oppressed go free
And break apart every [enslaving] yoke?
“Then your light will break out like the dawn,
And your healing (restoration, new life) will quickly spring forth;
Your righteousness will go before you [leading you to peace and prosperity],
The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

Praying in the Holy Spirit gives you power and increases faith.

Jude 1:20 NLT: 20 But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Meditating, speaking and reading the word of God gives you power.

Psalm 1:3 NLT: They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Testimony: I truly received my salvation at 19. Many years I wanted to be filled with the spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the spirit gave me what you say. A minister broke it down to me so simple. I was too much in my intellect. I begin to do like I did when I received my salvation confess with my mouth “I believe I receive the filling of the Holy Spirit”, I believed and received with my heart, and by faith I started to make a sound with my mouth fully trusting in God to give me my heavenly language. I was able to pray in the spirit. It has taken me to another level in my faith, and understanding of the word of God.

“You can receive God’s power, this very hour!”

Prayer: Lord thank you for giving me the gift of salvation and your Holy Spirit. I activate the power of God through salvation, receiving the Holy Spirit, fasting, praying in the spirit, and meditating the word day and night. Thank you God for Christ living in me, the hope of glory!” In Jesus name! Amen!

Don’t Choke! You Are Coming Out Without A Smell Of Smoke!

We all have to go through tough situations which can cause us to give up, bend, compromise, and run! However, to get the victory we have to go through it with the help of God. We have to totally depend on God through His word and the Holy Spirit living in us to come out victorious.

Do not magnify the problem, magnify what the word says. Magnifying the problem is like making it as an idol. Begin magnifying God. In Daniel 3, the three Hebrews boys said “The God we serve, He will deliver us.”

Do not compromise or give up on what God said to you or in His word when the pressure is on. In Daniel 3, the three Hebrew boys did not bow to the golden statue as an idol. They trusted in God even though everyone was bowing to the golden statue.

We will get opposition and the heat will turn up when we are trusting in God. The devil does it so the pressure can cause us to be scared, frustrated, depressed, and cave in. King Nebuchadnezzar got angry and told his men to heat the furnace up seven times hotter in Daniel 3.

Trust God to be with you through the fire and come out victorious.

Daniel 3:24-29: 24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”26 Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire. 27 And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.

God will make your enemies be at peace with you and praise the true and living God.

Daniel 3: 28-29: 28 Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! 29 Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”

Testimony: I made an error on my new monitoring position. It went up to upper management of the company. I misinterpreted the call that I monitored and scored the call higher than what it was supposed to be. I accepted responsibility for my action and told my supervisor I was willing to take any consequences that came along with it. I prayed to God. God said He would fight my battle for me. My supervisor stated he can see how I could have made a mistake on the call, gave me some coaching and I kept my position. I came out victorious. Sweatless victory.

Prayer: God, thank you for being with me through every storm and challenge. I magnify you and not my problem. I bow to the true and living God and trust you to bring me out restored, stronger, refreshed, and renewed for your glory! In Jesus name! Amen.

I Am Saved! No Longer Enslaved!

Enslaved definition is to be held in bondage.

Saved Webster’s Definition: delivered from sin and from spiritual death : rescued from eternal punishment

God sent His Son Jesus to bear all the penalty of our sins on the cross and every curse. We now have access to God through Jesus. What has God freed and rescued us from?

God has rescued and delivered us from hell and eternal damnation.

John 3:16: 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Colossians 1:13-14: He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

God has rescued and delivered us from sickness and diseases.

Psalm 103:1-3: Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.

God rescued and delivered us from sin and shame.

Romans 8:1-2:  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

God has rescued us from poverty.

Galatians 4:6-7:Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

Galatians 3:29:29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

We gain access to what Jesus has done for us by receiving Him as Lord of our lives, believing on Jesus and speaking it with our mouth.

Romans 10:9-11: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.

Testimony: The week of my birthday I asked God to give me more than enough and that I would get back safely from my trip. I had some unexpected situations and expenses came up which made it look like my prayer was in vain. I learned from my Aunt Mary that where there is a need, you plant a seed. I sowed my seed and it multiplied. Money came back into my account, and people gave money to me for my birthday. A song came in my spirit by Travis Greene “All things are working for my good.” God gave me my song of deliverance. He was faithful to His word.

I am saved! No longer enslaved!

Prayer: God, thank you for sending your Son Jesus to save me. Jesus not only saved me from hell, I am saved from sickness, diseases, curses, poverty, sin, guilt, and shame. I believe and receive what Jesus did for me on the cross. I speak it with my mouth, and I have access to everything God has for me. In Jesus name! Amen!

God Renews and Refresh, When We Overcome The Flesh!

We all have to deal with our flesh daily (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life). However, it becomes easier to overcome the flesh by yielding to the Holy Spirit and God’s will for our lives.

The presence of God through worship helps us overcome the flesh. The character of God and how holy he is will make us search ourselves.

Mary Magdalene in Luke 7:36-50 went to where Jesus was. She had many sins. The Pharisees were talking about her and judging her. Mary worshipped at Jesus’s feet, poured the expensive perfume on his feet, and wiped his feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. Jesus told Mary “Because you believed your faith has saved you go in peace.” Mary’s worship was pure. She gave Jesus an offering with the perfume. She humbled herself by bowing down in worship. Mary was transformed through worshipping Jesus. Please read this passage. It’s very powerful.

Choose to yield to the Holy Spirit to overcome the flesh.

Galatians 5:16 Amplified Version: 16 But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].

Give time to the things of the spirit of God to overcome the flesh. Romans 8:6Now the mind of the flesh is death [both now and forever—because it pursues sin]; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God—both now and forever];

Fast to overcome the flesh. In Matthew 17, the disciples asked Jesus why the could not drive out the demons. Jesus said in verse 21 this kind comes out by prayer and fasting.

Testimony: Some mornings it is hard for me to get up to go to work. I set my alarm to get up early. However, after I got up early my body was telling me to go back to sleep. I know if I went back to sleep I would be rushing to get my systems up for work. I had to tell my flesh no. I actually felt better and was able to get more done before I went to work.

Prayer: God, I thank you for putting your spirit in me. I repent for not spending enough time on the spiritual things and gratifying my fleshly desires. God, I sow to the spirit and reap life and peace. God, I can not please you in my flesh. I yield to the Holy Spirit through worship, spending time in the word, and fasting to keep my flesh under the control of God. In Jesus name! Amen!
