Do Not Fall To The Level Of The Devil

God worked through my dad for the title of the blog from a conversation we had on Thursday.

Today, we celebrate Jesus who died and rose again for our sins. In order to go through the pain, mockery, insults, and people humiliating Him, Jesus had to love, forgive, and trust God.

1 Peter 2:23 says 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

Jesus rose from the grave and went through everything for us and trusted God for justice. We can rise above every attack of the devil by trusting in God and His justice. In the end, Jesus got the victory and took back everything the devil stole.

Personal testimony: Thursday I received a call from a customer who was already angry because the customer did not get what was promised to him. The customer got so upset until he kept using profanity and used a racist remark towards me and hung up the phone immediately. After the customer hung up the phone, the phrase Jesus used came to me, ‘Forgive him Father for he knows not what he does.” Because of the love of God that dwells within me, it gave me the power to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. I told my dad about the situation and the blog phrase came about. What the devil meant for bad, God turned it around for my good.

Biblical Life Application: Romans 12:21 says, do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.

Matthew 5:41 If your enemy compels you go one mile go two miles.

Matthew 5:43-48: 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

We as believers will never know what is in us until we are put to the test. It is easy to love those that love you; it takes little to no effort. However, when you show love to people who are evil to you, it will either transform them or they will run. The customer I dealt with on Thursday wanted me to get upset because he was upset. I remained calm and that is when he became angry. The enemy that was operating through the customer hung up quickly before I could say anything to him. I submitted to God, resisted the devil, and he fled (James 4:7). We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but evil in high places (Ephesians 6:12-13). We can also resist the devil by not entertaining people who say abusive things towards us. Thankfully, the customer hung up but if the customer kept going with abusive language my comment would have been” I will be more than happy to assist you, but I will be releasing this call if you continue with abusive language.” My dad would take a drive when he was angry and not participate in an argument.

Pastor Gaines mentioned in one of his sermons this past week how people can be so mean and hateful, especially on social media. We as believers should use social media for the glory of God not ourselves, or to hurt others. Vengeance is God’s and He will repay (Romans 12:19). Do like Jesus and say, “Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.”

We can rise above any situation because of what Jesus went through. God gave us the power when we accepted Him as Lord and Savior of our lives. Those who are not saved, if you confess with your mouth that you are a sinner in need of Jesus, believe in your heart that Jesus died and rose from the grave then salvation is yours (Romans 10:9-10). You can then start on your journey to true transformation by reading the word of God. The best place to start is in the book of John because it deals with love. Faith works by love and the greatest commandment is to love.

Do not let the devil steal from you. Paraphrasing, John 10:10 says the thief comes not but to steal, kill. and destroy, but Jesus came so that you can have life in abundance.

Do not fall to the level of the devil!

Prayer: Lord, I magnify and love you because you first loved me. Lord, I thank you for your gift of Jesus blood that cleanses me from all sin. Thank you Lord for wiping my slate clean. I repent for allowing the devil to rob from me. I rise above every evil that comes my way through the word of God and your Holy Spirit living on the inside of me. Because of what Jesus went through for me, I can rise above any situation. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God! In Jesus name, Amen.

To Succeed With Longevity, Walk In Integrity

We all have seen in regular and famous people’s lives how they can quickly rise to the top and easily fall to the bottom. The difference with famous people is that it’s seen in public, whereas with regular people only a small percentage knows. The key is maintaining a life of honor.

Integrity: 1.the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. 2. the state of being whole and undivided.

What does the word of God say about not being divided, being honest and walking upright?

James 1:8: A double minded man is unstable in all His ways.

Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

The core value of Jesus was consistently living a life of love and reaching the lost. You cannot be one way today and then another day something different. Either you are or you are not. Either you believe or you do not. Either you are saved, or you are lost. There is no in between. What you are when the pressure comes will show your true nature. My Aunt Mary says “your gift makes room for you and brings you among the great but it’s your integrity that will keep you there.”

Matthew 12:33b NIV33 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 35 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

People pray for the favor of God, but favor is tied to integrity and living a life pleasing to God. We have favor with God first and then people.

Pastor Gaines would say, if you mess up, fess up! People will respect you more when you are honest even if they do not like you. My Aunt Mary uses my grandmother’s saying: “You can always respect an honest crook.”

We know if we repent by confessing our sins to God and starting on the path of righteousness, God cleanses us.

To Succeed with Longevity, Walk in integrity!

Prayer: God, I thank you for your word that transforms me daily. God, I repent for not walking in integrity at times in my life. I speak crop failure to negative seeds I have sown. God, continue to create in me a clean heart and renew the right spirit within me. I cannot do this by myself, but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Lord, let your light shine through me. God when I mess up, I acknowledge it and repent without living in guilt of condemnation. I thank you for your mercy endures forever. In Jesus name! Amen.

Victory You Move Toward As You Spring Forward

Saturday, March 20, is considered the first day of spring. Spring has lots of rain which causes flowers and the trees to bloom. In the spirit realm, we can receive the rain which manifests the blessings and miracles as we trust God to guide us.

TowardGoing on; in progress

Forward: Moving near the front

We progress by letting go of the things in the past and moving on to the things ahead by taking steps now.

Philippians 3:13-14: 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Hebrew 12:1-3 NIV Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

We progress by keeping our focus on God.

The word of God is good. Whatever is of good report and virtue is what we should think on (Philippians 4:8) We meditate and speak the word day and night so we can succeed (Joshua 1:8)

We progress as we are obedient to the word of God.

Deuteronomy 28:2 King James Version: And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

Personal Testimony: I have been standing on Proverbs 22:7 “The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is slave to the lender.” and Romans 13:8 “Owe no one nothing but to love one another.” I prayed and God told me where to give above the tithes and offering I give at church. What I gave this week multiplied 100 times over within a few days. It was funds from a place I did not see coming not including the government money I already received this week. God is faithful when we trust Him and stand on His word.

There is a season and time for every purpose under heaven Ecclesiastes 3:1.

Victory you move toward, as you spring forward!

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the seasons and the times you give me. I know it is a time to gather and harvest. I trust your word. I meditate, speak, and act on your word. I forget those things which are behind me and move forward. I look to you because you are the author and finisher of my faith. Whatever is good and of virtue. I think on those things. I repent for letting negative thoughts linger. i cast it down with the word of God. It is done in Jesus’ name! Amen

Not Just Luck, It’s God I Trust

Over 1.000 years ago, the Irish celebrated on March 17th in honor of Saint Patrick’s death. He was an apostle who introduced Christianity to the Irish. The three-leaf clover represented the Trinity which he spoke about (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). When the tradition made it to America they patronized it with drinking, and gold. The leprechaun came from an Irish folklore which was fiction. They were known to be tiny little men. We all heard the phrase “The luck of the Irish”, which came from 19th century successful miners during the gold and silver rush years in Ireland. Luck in Ireland meant happiness or good fortune. It is coming from the Dutch word gheluc.

As believers we do not have to rely on luck or natural things to bring us happiness and good fortune because God’s treasures are eternal and better than silver and gold.

Matthew 6:19 Amplified Version: 19 “Do not store up for yourselves [material] treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also.

Only what we do for God will last because it is eternal. Natural things can get away from you. Live to glorify God and the purpose He has called you to.

God knows we need things here on earth. He wants us to have them because He loves to give to His children, just like parents. However, He does not want the things to have us. God will take care of us as long as we trust Him. He blesses us so we can be a blessing to others.

Saint Patrick has treasures stored up in heaven. He lived a life that when he passed on people celebrated him. Let us do the same as believers.

“Not just luck, It’s God I trust!”

Prayer: God, I bless you today. I will not forget all the benefits I have being your child. You own the cattle on a thousand hills. You are the good Shepherd and I want for nothing. I am an heir. I am redeemed from the curse. You sent your Son Jesus to die for me and took everything just for me. God, I am kingdom minded walking in the purpose you have for me here on earth. I stay connected to you and everything else will be added. I repent for making things, money, and people as idols in my life. I lay up treasures that are eternal that will never fade. I praise you in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Spring Brings New Things

In order to receive more something must die.  John 12:24 Living Translation “I Tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death produces many new kernels-a plentiful harvest for new lives.

The scripture came to me when I was looking for a home a few years back. The home that I wanted was tied up in a short sale but was in the neighborhood I wanted with upstairs. Someone bid higher on the home and it was sold.  It really hurt me. It seems like all hope was lost and John 12:24 came to me. I knew my breakthrough was near. I ended up with a home fully furnished with stainless steel appliances. The other home did not have all the appliances. I ended up with 8,000 tax credit and the home sold for less than it was for on the market. Perfect demonstration of that scripture that became living in my life.

Sometimes relationships, careers, and things die in your life. The good news is the best is near. Spring forward, let go, and move forward to make room for the new. What has died will produce more, double for your trouble.

Isaiah 45:19 Easy Read Version says: 19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Paul stated in Philippians 3:13-14 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.

Spring brings new things!

Prayer: God I thank you that death is not the end; it is making room for the new. I let go of things and people in the past that have moved on.  As I let go and trust you, I am making room for the new. You are the God of multiplication. You restored double to Job the things that died in his life. I know you will do the same for me. I give you the praise, glory, and honor in Jesus’ name.

Do Your Best. Trust God For The Rest.

God used my Aunt Mary for the title of the blog. It is a phrase my Uncle Dave uses a lot. Uncle Dave taught last Thursday about us as believers doing our best in service to God. He pointed out how easy it is to do our best in what interests us. Many of us as believers when it comes to the kingdom of God, we have not given our best. It really made me examine myself. I mentioned in the blog last week about how favor operates through integrity. Doing our best in whatever God puts into our hands and trusting God through the process activates the favor of God.

Many of you may be asking; “How can I do my best in service to God?” God left us an example, Jesus, to follow in His footsteps.

In Luke 19, Jesus went to Zacchaeus, a wealthy man, to speak with him. People talked among themselves: “He has gone to be a guest with a sinner.” However, Zacchaeus said “I give half of my possessions to the poor and anything else I have cheated people out of, I will pay back four times as much.” Jesus said to him “Today salvation has come to you and your household because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

John 3:17 says, God sent His Son into the world not to condemn the world, but that the world through Him maybe saved. Our lifestyle will speak more volumes than what we say. There are plenty opportunities starting with our family. 1 Timothy 5:4 says, Charity begins at home and then spreads abroad. It is easy to be kind to others we do not know, however, it can be a challenge for those we see every day.

My Aunt Mary would say to reach those who are lost do like Jesus did; go around doing good for them. Doing good could be prayer. encouragement, your testimony, giving of our time, giving of money, knowledge, or giving of your things. Acts 10:38 says Jesus went about doing good and healing all that were sick and oppressed with the devil because God was with them.

God is with us as believers. Let us use what we have and go about doing good like Jesus did; however, let us do it unto God not for our own glory. Colossians 3:17: And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Do your best. Trust God for the rest!

Prayer: Lord, I thank you that you are no respect of persons. I repent for mistreating and judging people.. God, you loved us so much you gave your only Son to save us from hell. I choose today to go about doing good no matter where I am as an opportunity to share the love of Jesus. Lord, through love and kindness I draw people to you just as you have done for me. Let my life be an example of your love. I thank you now in Jesus’ name!

People/Things Are Not Our Savior, Receive God’s Favor!

People and things can fail you because they are not perfect. However, if we trust in the favor of God as believers it can take us places, we have never been.

We can receive the full favor of God by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9-10 NIV Version says If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Jesus was a great example to follow. Luke 2:52 says Jesus grew in wisdom and found favor with God and man.  Jesus applied the teachings he received from God and he gained favor with God and man.

Three people in the bible that come to mind who had the favor of God on their lives were Joseph (Genesis Chapters 37-41), Esther (Chapters 1-10, and Ruth (Chapters 1-4)

The one thing that Joseph, Esther, and Ruth in common was their integrity.

Potiphar’s wife came after Joseph but instead of sleeping with her, he ran from her. He said it would be a sin against God. Even though he was thrown in prison, God was with him. Joseph gained favor with the prisoners by operating in his gift of interpreting dreams. Joseph’s gift made room for him and he went from a prisoner to being promoted to second in command.

Esther, even though the king found her beautiful, had favor with the King because of the God in her. She was a praying woman which gave her the boldness to approach the king and free her people ruling the kingdom.

Ruth found favor with Boaz. Boaz saw her and asked others about her. She was a young lady, but she did not chase after men young, old or rich. She was a hard worker and she helped her mother-in-law, Naomi.  Ruth was also humble and obedient to what Naomi told her.  Her obedience got her a husband that was a business owner. She went from working in Boaz’s field to owning it with him as his wife.

Trust in God and walk in the wisdom of God and His favor will take you higher. You do not have to impress people or lower your standards for anyone to get what you want or need. God takes care of us. He works on people’s heart to show us favor.  Psalm 5:12 says favor surrounds the righteous as with a shield. We are made righteous through faith in God (Romans 3:22).

People/things are not our savior, all you need is God’s favor!

Prayer: I praise you God that I am made righteous through you by trusting in your word and your character. I thank you because I am righteous favor surrounds me as with a shield. I expect favor every day. God, help me to be more like you. Forgive me for not walking in integrity and doing things in my own strength. I grow each day in wisdom by applying the word of God to my life. I claim it done in Jesus name! Amen.

The Fool At The Pool

The phrase for the blog was inspired by my younger sister Lashunda as we were talking about the man at the Pool of Bethesda in John Chapter 5. My sister told our Aunt Mary a while back that 38 years was half of that man’s life in the same condition. How many of us have dealt with the same thing over and over until we feel like there is no hope? We feel stuck. Are you willing to take the steps to get out?
Webster’s definition of a fool is to act unwisely. The word of God is full of wisdom. Proverbs is a great book on wisdom. When we reject what the word of God says, because God is all knowing, we are acting unwise, in other words, like a fool. Proverbs 1:7 says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. It is just like a parent or mentor who gives the child or student instructions because they have been there before, and the child/student rejects the wisdom. That person is acting foolishly. It is the same way with God. Wisdom keeps us from dangers, making a lot of mistakes, and unnecessary pain.
Most people have heard the phrase “Misery loves company.” In John 5, I noticed the man at the pool was around others who were in the same condition. It is important to get around people on a higher level if we want to go to the next level. It is easy to hang around people like us. However, it will keep us in the same state. Matthew 15:14 says if the blind leads the blind, they both fall in the pit. I thank God for my dad, Aunt Mary, and others that pushed me to a higher level in God. It is because of them I gained wisdom and the favor of God. They also kept me from certain pitfalls. Even though sometimes it would hurt my feelings, they were only giving me wisdom to get me to the next level.
The man at the pool made excuses as to why he still could not walk. Jesus asked the man at the pool “Do you want to be healed?” This was his response: John 5:7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, other steps down before me.” When you decide, you will do what is necessary to progress even if it hurts.
It is time to act, get up, and do. Jesus did not entertain the sick man’s excuse: John 5:8-9 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. God left us the word of God as a manual. Begin to do what the word says, and God will give you specific instructions. The written word becomes a rhema word (right now word) for your situation as you read it.
My past blog was “Things remain the same until we make an exchange.” Just recently I applied Luke 6:38 on giving and it was multiplied to me. I begin giving what I had, encouraging others, and praying for others. My seed multiplied. I needed repairs done on my vehicle that would have cost in the thousands to repair. My brother called me and said he had the exact vehicle with lower miles and a newer model to give me. All I had to give him was a few hundred dollars. My Aunt Mary would say “Where there is a need plant a seed.” Remember nothing leaves heaven unless something is released in the natural. Whatever you loose and bind on earth is loosed and bound in heaven Matthew 18:18
To sum it all up, get around people that can push you to the next level, stop making excuses, and start getting up, act on the word. The word of God becomes living when we believe and act on it.
Do not be “The fool at the pool!”

Prayer: God, I thank you for leaving me the word of God as a guide to keep me from making unwise decisions. I repent for not doing what the word of God says, making excuses, and acting foolishly. God, you are my Heavenly Father and wants the best for me. God, help me to die daily
to my flesh and evil desires. Your word says have no confidence in the flesh. I put my trust and confidence in you because in my flesh dwells nothing good. I make no more excuses. I surround myself with people that can push me to a higher level in you, God. I get up, act on your word, and get results. I thank you for delivering me speedily. In Jesus name! Amen.

I Am Not Without Flaw, But Love Fulfills The Law

It is easy to find fault and look at others sin, especially as believers. We can easily forget what we have done in the past. Like the woman that was caught in adultery in John 8. They were ready to stone her to death until Jesus said, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. They walked away.

God does not make one sin bigger than the other. 1 John 5 :17 says all unrighteousness is sin. It includes gossiping, procrastination, lying, condemning others, etc. The word of God says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

The good news is we are made righteous through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:22). However, for your faith to work we must practice love. Galatians 5:6 says faith works by love. (1 John 3:14) Amplified Version: We know that we have passed out of death into Life, because we love the brothers and sisters. He who does not love remains in [spiritual] death.

God commands us to love. John 15:12 NIV: My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

If you want to know if you are doing well as a believer check your love walk (1 Corinthians 13) read it daily. Romans 13:8 says love fulfills the law. I love the Easy Read version of Romans 13:8: You should owe nothing to anyone, except that you will always owe love to each other. The person who loves others has done all that the law commands.

Glory to God! It is simple walk-in love then you have done all that God commands.

I am not without flaw, but love fulfills the law!

Prayer: God, I thank you for your unconditional love. I thank you that even though I am flawed, you accepted me. I admit at times I have not walked in love and you command that of me. I repent for walking in disobedience. I know because I confessed my sin, you are faithful to forgive me and cleanse me. God, put a check in my spirit when I am not walking in love because I know love fulfils all the commandments. I thank you for giving me a heart of love. You sent your Son Jesus into the world not to condemn the world but the world through Him maybe saved. In Jesus name Amen.
