Reverse The Curse

Webster’s meaning of reverse:

1. Something that is opposite of something else. 2. Opposite or contrary  to previous normal condition. 3. acting, operating or arranged in a manner contrary to the usual. To cause an opposite point of view. 4. To undo or negate the effect of (something such as condition 5. To turn or move in the opposite direction

If we want the opposite of what we are receiving we have to do the opposite of what we normally do, with how we speak, what we think/meditate on and our actions.

Struggling  in a specific  area?; according to Joel 3:10 it says let the weak say I am strong.

Rather we sense anything or feel anything, we speak the word of God. Proverbs 18:21 says 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Hebrews 4:12 Amplified Version 12 For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.

According to John 6;63  our words are spirit and life.

Words are not just words, it breaths life  into your situation. In the Jewish household it is tradition for the parents to speak blessing over their children every Friday; one for the son , one for the daughter, and one for all the children and family members in the household following biblical tradition. Jewish families are blessed because of it. The word of God cuts through any curse . It should be a daily thing for believers to speak the word of God so it can cut through the root of your situation.

Even God in Genesis 1 spoke things into existence. When it was dark and the earth was void God said let there be light.  God spoke and created the sky, day, night, and water. We can create things with our words because we are spiritual beings created in His image and likeness.

Obedience to God brings the blessing. Disobedience brings the curse.  Deuteronomy 28:1 says all these blessings will come on you and overtake you if you listen to the voice of God

The opposite is Deuteronomy 28:13 if you don’t listen to the voice of God all the curses will come on you and overtake you.

Read the whole chapter of Deuteronomy 28 to read about the blessing and curses.

God speaks through His word. As believers we have the Holy Spirit to guide us. John 10:27 says My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

God normally speaks when everything is quiet. In the morning is normally when things are quiet and you can hear from God. Proverbs 8:17 says I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

When you are in the family of God you are no longer under the curse. All we have to do is believe, receive, speak it, obey, and then we have it.

Galatians 3:13 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.

Reverse, The Curse!

Trust No Man, Only God Can

As we face the everyday challenges in life, it is good to have people we can trust to help us through those challenges. But remember, only God can get us out of certain situations that a natural person can’t.

David in Psalm 121 :1-2 said  I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

There are questions only God can answer. There are problems only God can solve. Ask God because He is the creator and all knowing. Pray and spend quiet time with God. Praise/worship God and the answer will be revealed, as long as we stay consistent.

Jeremiah 17:5-8: This is what the Lord says:“Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,in a salt land where no one lives.“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,  whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

We are operating under a curse if we put our trust in the church, government, president, the wealthy, family, friends, etc. We are operating in the blessing when our trust is in God. Get to know God if you don’t know Him. Spend time with Him. It is the best relationship a person can ever have.

Psalm 108 :6; 12-13  Save us and help us with your right hand,
that those you love may be delivered. 12 Give us aid against the enemy,
for human help is worthless.13 With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.

David recognized that without God’s help, they were worthless in and of themselves. Let us as people of God look to God for wisdom, guidance, and help daily in every area of our lives. Let us stand in the gap for those who are weak. Let God arise and the enemies be scattered.

As I was writing the blog, a song came to me  by Richard Smallwood called “Total Praise”. The lyrics are: “Lord I will lift mine eyes to the Hills. Knowing my help, is coming from you. Your peace you give me in times of the storm. You are the source of my strength. You are the strength of my life. I lift my hands in total praise to you.”

Trust no man! Only God Can!

On God Cast All Your Care And Stay Spiritually Aware

People are either living in fear or nonchalant when it comes to a crisis. It is amazing what comes out when people are put under pressure, rather good or bad. There should be a balance. What is the balance to crisis or catastrophe?  The balance is trusting in God, doing what you know to do in the natural, and staying spiritually aware as people of God.

First, trust God. Scripture reference:  Psalm 55:22 NIV Version: Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken

When your trust is in God, He will sustain you. Which means, by Webster’s meaning, to  support, give relief, supply, keep, and to to bear up under any situation you are facing. It will not move you.

Second thing is doing the natural. To understand the spiritual, you must understand the natural.  Scripture reference is Matthew 18:15: 8 New king James Version:18 “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

There’s a saying that says nothing leaves heaven except something leaves earth. Yes we know as people of God that with the stripes of Jesus we are healed , however, we have to put the scripture before our eyes. That is doing something in the natural such as speaking and hearing the word of God, because the word is like medicine. Meditating the word of God day and night. Eating things in balance, taking our vitamins, exercising, drinking water, praying over our food are ways to loose things on earth, so that heaven can work on our behalf. You can’t do one without the other.

Lastly,  we must be spiritually aware. This comes with listening/ spending time with God and reading the word of God.

Know your enemy. God allows things because He gives us free will. The enemy is the devil.

John 10:10 New King James Version: 10 The thief (the devil) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Stay on guard and alert in the spirit.

I Peter 5:8-11:  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 26:41:  41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Galatians 5:16-18 : 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

2 Corinthians 2 : 10-11 Amplified Version: 10 If you forgive anyone anything, I too forgive that one; and what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sakes in the presence [and with the approval] of Christ (the Messiah),11 To keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions.

Hosea: 4:6   Amplified Version My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no priest to Me; seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

Let  us do what we know to do in the natural, trust God, cast your cares on Him. He will keep you. Be spiritually aware by asking God for wisdom on things you don’t understand. Walk in love because devil loves for us to have unforgiveness in our hearts, hating each other and other races, worrying, panicking, and living in fear.

We can do everything in the natural, but if we leave God out it is pointless. My dad gave me a story of a man where the doctor gave him a good bill of health. The man ate healthy and exercise. However, he died the next day. I wondered if he only did the natural but left God out.

Psalm 127: 1-2: Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.

If you leave God out in all that you do, it  is in vain. Get to know God. If you are not saved, God is waiting for you with open arms. He is not willing that any should perish but that all comes to repentance. Your eternity is important . Read Romans 10:9-10 on salvation.

My childhood pastor always would ask this question: If you died tonight would heaven be your home? Are you sure of  your eternity? You don’t  want to gamble with your eternity whether you believe heaven and hell is real or not. What he said has stuck with me. My eternity is more important  than temporary happiness.

On God, cast all your care and stay spiritually aware!

To Rise Above, Stay In Love

It was impressed on me to read Ephesian 3.   I read the chapter and  I was enlightened about operating on another level in God. I will use some examples from Ephesians 3 to give us insight as believers on going higher in our relationship with God.

Ephesians 3 :14-21 New King James Version 14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Everything is done by faith. It takes faith to love people who behave badly. In order to understand the love of God and come into the fullness of God, we must stay in love. When we miss it, we can repent and ask God to help us because we can’t do it in our own strength. Even Jesus, while being crucified on the cross, said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”  If people only knew the consequences when they walk out of love, they wouldn’t do some of the things they do.  When we stay in love and grow in it, then we have the power for God to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ask or think in our lives.

There was a song by Al Green the lyrics said “Where love rules there is more power.”

God help us to walk in love so we may fully know you. Help us to operate in the power of your Holy Spirit so that you can do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think for your kingdom, our lives, and in the lives of others. In Jesus name, Amen.

To Rise Above, Walk In Love!

Why Are You In Jail, When Jesus Paid Your Bail?

Most of you are familiar with bail in the legal system. Once the bail is paid in full then the prisoner is released from jail.

Jesus paid everything for us by sacrificing his life, but yet we still remain in prison. Why is that as believers we accept the death, burial and resurrection but stay a prisoner  to lack, addictions, sickness, generational curses, etc?

Romans 12:2 Living Translation says Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

So, when people say it runs in the family according Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed me from the curse.

When the doctor gives a diagnosis of illness according to Isaiah 53:5 with the stripes of Jesus we were healed.

When money is low instead of saying “I am broke”, say according to Philippians 4:19 my God supplies all my needs.

Are you tired of being in prison when everything is already paid for? Begin to receive what God has already done. Reprogram your mind to the word of God so when the pressure comes, the word of God comes out. Everyone’s prison is different just like regular jail. There are different people in for different crimes. Your bail has been paid. Walk out by faith trusting in what God has already done!

Why are you in jail, when Jesus paid your bail?

When In Distress, You Can Find Rest

Distress: Extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain.

Rest:  (1) Sleep (2) Cease from action or motion. (3) To be free from anxiety or disturbance. (4) To Remain confident, trust.

We can face anxiety, pain, sorrow, and still sleep when we put our confidence/trust in what God has already done.

Here are examples in the bible of dealing with trying situations:

2 Samuel 22:7  In my distress I called upon the Lord, yes, I cried to my God and from His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for help came into His ears

David cried to the Lord in his distress and God heard  him. God’s ears are open to the cries of the righteous.

Psalm 118:5 From my distress I called upon the Lord, the Lord answered me and set me in a large place.

Again, David called on God and he was in a better place. When going through a challenging time, if we call and cry out to God with sincerity, He hears and answers us.

Isaiah 25:4 For you have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress.

Defense means protection. God protects us when we are under attack. All we have to do is put our trust in God.

Psalm 32:7 You are my hiding place, you protect me from trouble and surrounds me with songs of deliverance.

When we trust someone, we don’t wonder if he/she will come through, we know because of that  person’s track record. Get to know God and how He operates and even when you are going through a difficult situation you can rest knowing that God protects, hears and answers in crisis.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest

I love the phrase Marilyn Hickey used : “When in trouble, you don’t want to backslide, you in -slide into church and to God”

God loves it when we come to Him. It’s just like how a mother/father loves when their child/children comes to them for help.

When In Distress, You Can Find Rest!

Gain Back What Is Lost, No Matter The Cost

When you lose something of value, you do what ever it takes to get it back. You will search thoroughly until it is found. Everything we face is in the word of God when dealing with regaining something that is lost.

Jesus spoke on the parables of the lost coin and lost sheep in Luke 15

Luke 15:4-7 NIV Version  Lost Sheep “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Luke 15: 8-10 NIV Version Lost coin:“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Notice in the parables the person goes after what is lost until it is found and then rejoices after finding what was lost.

In 1 Samuel 30, David lost his possessions and his family. David wept but in the next verse I loved what David did after that.

1 Samuel 30:6-8 6 But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

Sometimes in situations you can get emotional. When faced with this situation,  David strengthened himself in God and he sought God for a solution. God told him to pursue and recover all!

Notice David got out of the flesh and into the spirit by strengthening himself in God and sought God for direction. God spoke to David, he obeyed and gained back what was lost.

Many of you know the story of Job. Read Job starting at Chapter 30. Job lost his family, health, and money. But Job did not blame God. He repented of any words he spoke and asked God to put a guard over his mouth. Job also prayed for his friends and got his deliverance. Everything  that he lost, he gained back seven times.

Proverbs 6:31 says when a thief is found he will have to pay back what he has stolen seven times.

Gain back what is lost, no matter the cost!

Where Sin Hovers, Love Covers

Hover: To remain suspended over.

Cover: To Guard from an attack. Protection or security. To hide from site or knowledge.

Wrongs people have done can hang over them like a cloud.

However, we can stay guarded from any attack and it will not be remembered anymore when you’re walking in love.

I Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

Galatians 6:1-5  Amplified Version Brothers, if anyone is caught in any sin, you who are spiritual [that is, you who are responsive to the guidance of the Spirit] are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness [not with a sense of superiority or self-righteousness], keeping a watchful eye on yourself, so that you are not tempted as well. Carry one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the requirements of the law of Christ [that is, the law of Christian love]. For if anyone thinks he is something [special] when [in fact] he is nothing [special except in his own eyes], he deceives himself. But each one must carefully scrutinize his own work [examining his actions, attitudes, and behavior], and then he can have the personal satisfaction and inner joy of doing something commendable [a]without comparing himself to another. For every person will have to bear [with patience] his own burden [of faults and shortcomings for which he alone is responsible].

It is easy to finger point and get in our emotions with others. But, if we stay in the spirit and examine/judge ourselves, we are walking in love and will not be judged.

John  8:4-11 NIV Version: “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”11 “No one, sir,” she said.“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

We should love and encourage each other to do good works. A good passage to read is Galatians 5 :13-28. It deals with walking in love, the works of the flesh, and the works of the spirit as people of God.

Let us as people of God judge ourselves , walk in love, and deal with things spiritually.

Read my June 3 2018 blog post Release The Grudge, God Is The Judge.  It will really bless you.

Where sin hovers, love covers!

Believe. Receive!

You can’t have one without the other. Believe and then receive.

Believe: (1) to consider to be true or honest (2) to accept the word or evidence of.

Receive:  to come into possession of. to permit to enter to accept as authoritative, true, or accurate : believe.  to take

Many of you have heard the phrase “Seeing is believing.” That is true for people who don’t know God. We have to live a life that draws the lost to God.

Matthew 5:16  let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus performed miracles and people started believing and following Jesus.

However, as people of God we use faith. As the Webster’s meaning, say accept the word. People of God accept the word of God as evidence and the Holy Spirit living on the inside to guide us.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

John 20:29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

That is enough to shout about. We are blessed when even though what we believe has not yet manifested. We can still trust that it is already done. This brings me  to my next point: Receive!

Most faith people know Mark 11;24  Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Before it even happens, as Webster’s meaning says, take possession of it. Believe and take.

When you pray, believe that you have already taken possession of it. As long as it is in line with the word of God and it is good, take it.

Don’t believe or receive the negative.

As people of God, our lives should be a testimony to help nonbelievers see the goodness of God so that it will draw them to believe.

Believe! Receive!
