Right When God wants to Bless, We flunk the test!

My Aunt Mary came up with this phrase while having a discussion during our group about walking in love.

Love is the key to passing the test. I have 1 Corinthian 13 framed on the wall in my living room. It helps not only to hear, speak, and meditate the word, but to also have it in front of your eyes as a reminder everyday. We all are believing for things: marriage, promotion, business, houses, cars, and so on. However, the enemy has schemes and tricks right when God is getting ready to bless us to get us off the love walk. The devil knows faith works by love.

At school most people have a study partner or a tutor when they are having a challenge on certain subjects. I am thankful to God I have people to correct me and it has helped tremendously. The correction is not pleasant at times. Proverbs 27:6 Amplified Version says: Faithful are the wounds of a friend [who corrects out of love and concern], But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful [because they serve his hidden agenda].

People can flatter you and let you fail, even though they could have corrected you on it. However, when someone loves you, that person will tell you the truth even if it hurts. Pastor Gaines would say “Before you correct, connect.” You have to develop a relationship with them where they trust you before trying to correct someone. You can speak the truth in love when correcting someone. Sometimes the person will receive it and other times they will get mad and not talk to you. However, when you love someone you want to see them succeed and that means correcting them. I am learning how to be confrontational with people. God will give you the wisdom of what to say. I thank God for correction and godly mentors, family, and friends. It has kept me from a lot of pitfalls.

The devil will use the ones closest to us to test us the most. If you mess up, repent and get back on track. The more you do it, like with anything, it becomes automatic. Things that bothered you before will not bother you anymore. Offenses will come (Luke 17:1-2), but we have the power not to let it hurt us. Luke 10:19 Kings James Version: Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

We control what we let into our hearts and how we respond to it. My dad’s favorite phrase Jesus used is “Forgive them Father for they no not what they do?” That is using the shield of faith to quench the fiery dots that the enemy throws at us (Ephesians 6:16). It is not the person, it is a spirit that is operating in that person (Ephesians 6:12-13) to cause them to act the way they do. If people really knew that if they don’t repent the bad seeds they have sown will multiply just like good seeds sown, they wouldn’t do what they do.

Get a godly accountability partner that will correct you when you are getting off the love walk. Ask God to put a check in your spirit when you are out of line. Read 1 Corinthians 13 every day, print it out to put before your eyes as a reminder. Take control over what you let come into your heart, even if you have to confront that person in love. Put the shield of faith up by saying “Forgive them for they know not what they do.” Let us pass our test. Because love sums it up for the power of God to flow in our lives.

Right when God wants to bless, we flunk the test!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your unconditional love. You loved me when I didn’t treat you right and denied you. I have the same kind of love because I am a believer. I am made in your image and likeness. God I repent for holding in offenses and not confronting things when I need to in love. I do not want my prayers hindered. I am tired of flunking my test. I put my shield of faith up and take control over what I let into my heart. God with your help, the Holy Spirit, and people around me to correct me, I have the victory. I give you the praise in Jesus name! Amen.

Things Can Go Sour, But Love Releases God’s Power

My Aunt Mary taught on love this week with the group and this phrase came about. I was listening to an interview and the person said it’s okay to have people disagree with you without hating them. The person stated “I have people from all walks of life who do not believe in Jesus but I still love them.” I have seen people hate and not talk to each other because their views are different, especially when it comes to politics. I have heard and seen people talk about another race and be judgmental because of a person’s lifestyle. We as believers know faith works by love. God’s power can not flow through us when we are not walking in love. Love is God’s command, which means there is no other option. It is a must.

John13:34-35: 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

The definition of command is an order. God orders us as believers to love. My Aunt Mary’s commonly used phrase is “Judge a tree by the fruit it bears.” God knows and people know if we are of God, when we operate in love. If we get off the love walk, we need to repent and get back on the right track. We can ask God to help in areas where we are not walking in love. Read 1 Corinthians 13 daily and God will perfect you in love. God corrects those he loves.

Proverbs 3:11 New Living Translations says: 11 My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline,
and don’t be upset when he corrects you.12 For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delight

There have been times in my life and in yours where a mentor, friend, parent, or someone close to you corrects you out of love and it can be painful. Sometimes I would get hurt and offended when I was corrected because I thought they were being mean or nitpicking. However, someone else would say the same thing and then I realized they did it out of love. As I mature, when I am corrected, I welcome it because it makes me a better and wiser person. Proverb 9:8 New Living: So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you. Let us be wise and accept correction, learn from it, and become wiser.

Most believers know about Mark 11:24 that says whatever you ask in prayer, believe you receive and you shall have whatever you pray for. However, Mark 11:25 also says: And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

A pastor who taught on love once said as long as we’re holding onto it, God has no legal right to do anything for you because God doesn’t force anything on us. God gives us a choice. We are blocking our blessings when we don’t forgive and are not walking in love. A lot of us as believers are not getting far and are stuck because we are not walking in love. The pastor I listened to stated that love is the high life,. The low life is manipulation and hate. We have to watch what we look at in the news and on social media. It twists things and causes people to hate each other.

Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

It doesn’t mean everyone will be at peace with us. However, we are responsible for how we react to negative people. Matthew 5:9 says: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Romans 12:21 says do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.

It is just like electricity. Negative and a positive produces power. Negative things come at us we can counteract by doing something positive according to the word of God and the power of God flows through.

Things can go sour, but love releases God’s power!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for loving me even when I do wrong. God, you command us to love. God, I repent for being disobedient and not walking in love. God, help me to accept correction, learn from it and become wiser. I am not overcome by evil, I overcome evil with good. I pray for my enemies and people that hate me in order for your power to flow through me. I refuse to remain stuck by holding on to offenses. I give it over to you so my prayers can be answered. I give you thanks and praise in Jesus name! Amen.

It Can Cut Like A Knife, But God Restores Your Life

A lot of us have things we go through that are painful. The pain can be unbearable. Jesus knows because he went through the pain on the cross for us. Surrender the pain over to God and He will restore.

Isaiah 53:3-4 NIV: He was despised and rejected by men. A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows.

Jesus took our grief and carried our sorrow, which means we don’t have to carry it. Jesus went through suffering, rejection, died, but God restored Him back to life. God can do the same for us when we give it over to Him.

Psalm 34:19: Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.

Job 23:10 Amplified Version:10 “But He knows the way that I take [and He pays attention to it].
When He has tried me, I will come forth as [refined] gold [pure and luminous]

Joel 2:25 New King James Version: 25 “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust,
The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.26 You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you;
And My people shall never be put to shame.

It can cut like a knife, but God restores your life!

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for taking my grief, sorrow, and rejection and bearing it on the cross. I thank you God! You deliver me out of all of my afflictions. I repent for carrying the hurt, pain, and I give it all to you. Thank you God! You restore the years that were taken from me and I won’t be put to shame. I may have trials but I am coming out like Job as pure gold. I give you the praise and the honor. It is done, in Jesus name!

I Must, In God Put My Trust

My Aunt Mary sent teaching for me to meditate on concerning resting in God. God led me to Psalm 62 Friday morning which is confirmation on what I have been listening to.

Psalm 62:5-8 NIV: Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God[; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.Trust in him at all times, you people;  pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

There was a song I sang at my childhood church when I was a teen by the late Lee Williams “I Learned to Lean on Jesus” One of the verses say “Oh what a blessedness, Oh what a peace of mind, leaning on Jesus everlasting arms.” Isaiah 26:3 says he will keep you in perfect peace who mind is stayed on Him because they trust in Him. In the song Lee Williams said he started leaning on on his sister, and mother and realized he didn’t have nobody he could lean on. Jeremiah 17:5-8 cursed is every man who put their trust in man but blessed is the man who put their trust in God

People and things will fail you. However, God will never fail you. In the song ” I Learned to Lean on Jesus” I love the lyrics that said “For if I trust Him He will provide” True trust is knowing that God’s word is true and resting in God’s finished work. It comes through hearing, meditating, and speaking the word of God. It will uproot anything that is not in line with His word.

Just this week I said “when I get my check.” An inner voice said “God is my source not my job.” I am operating under a curse because a job is man made which can fail. I immediately got back in line and operated in the blessing declaring God is my source and I am the seed of Abraham and an heir. I declared because I give it is given to me and in abundance. I declared because the Lord is my Shepherd I lack nothing. My soul is prospering just from me taking in the word throughout the day and it is uprooting what is not like God. Remember we prosper as our soul prospers. I heard a pastor say we don’t get what we want, we attract the image inside us even though we want something different. As a person thinks in their heart so it is Proverbs 23:7. For example if I want a Godly man with integrity, I have to change the image that there are no good men out there. I also have to live a Godly life and walk in integrity as well because we reap what we sow. If I want abundance I have to change the image of not having enough. Let us allow the word of God to transform us and cut out any image that is not of God.

I must, in God put my trust!

Prayer: Lord I thank you for your word that is living and brings light to areas that are dark. God I repent for thinking on things that are not like you. I cast down every thought and anything that is not in line with your word. I trust in your finished work. I am prospering my soul as I take in your word daily. The word of God is uprooting images that is not in line with the word of God and transforming the world around me. I don’t trust in people and things because it can and will fail me. I trust in you God and operate in the blessing. In Jesus name! Amen.

We Have All We Need. Faith Is the Title Deed

Deed: a legal document that is signed and delivered, especially one regarding the ownership of property or legal rights.

Title: a document that shows legal ownership to a property or asset.

We have a legal right because of Jesus sacrificing His life for us and taking everything on the cross. The promises of God are our title and deed. Our written document of everything we need is in the word of God. It can only be accessed by faith. Those that have not accepted Jesus as Lord read Romans 10:9-10, and join the family of God to gain access to the blessing.

We have heard that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. There is another version that can boost our faith and take what is rightfully ours.

Hebrews 11:1-2 Amplified Version: Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. For by this [kind of] faith the men of old gained [divine] approval.

Our faith is the title deed. However, faith comes by hearing the word of God. It is not a one time thing. We heard the saying “How can two walk together except they be agreed (Amos 3:3)” A pastor I was listening to said it best: our soul has to catch up with our spirit in order for it to manifest. Our soul has to align with our spirit. We prosper as our soul prospers (3 John 1:2)

Once we start hearing, speaking and meditating the word everyday, our soul prospers. When we start believing the word of God, our feelings began to match our spirit for manifestation. We all need people and mentors that press us to be diligent in the things of God. God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). When a spiritual leader or pastor teaches on something, study it to get results.

Joshua 18:3 King James Version: And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?

We should be tired of putting up with not possessing healing, land, houses, peace, love, joy, and every promise God has for us. When our soul aligns with our spirit, that is where faith comes for manifestation by being consistent in the word of God.

I wrote out scriptures for what I was believing for listening to a pastor. The pastor said sign it and confess it. When I signed it, Stevie Wonder’s song came to me “Signed, sealed, delivered” and an inner voice said it’s yours. That was my title deed. All God’s promises are “Yes”, and “Amen”. It is signed, sealed, delivered, and it is yours so take it!

We have all we need. Faith is the title deed!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your mercy that never fails. I repent for failing to study your word on a consistent basis robbing me of what is mines. I now know faith is my title deed to access what belongs to me. I am prospering my soul and I prosper. No longer will I be slack on getting what belongs to me. It is signed, sealed, delivered, and it is mine! In Jesus name! Amen!

To Win the Race, Add To Your Faith

It is good to do a self examination over our spiritual state, just like we do with our bodies and transportation. The previous blog focused on speaking the word of God by faith no matter the situation. However, in order to produce what we are believing for, there are requirements that must be met. My dad mentioned adding to your faith to produce fruit.

2 Peter 1:5-9 New King James Version But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

Let us produce by adding to our faith the fruits of the spirit. It is time for people to see the power of God in our lives as believers. Let us examine ourselves.

To win the race, add to your faith.

Prayer: Thank you God for the living word to guide me on the path of victory. I am tired of living a defeated life when the battle is already won through your Son Jesus. I add to my faith the fruit of the spirit so I can manifest the blessing in my life. I repent of allowing sin to dominate me. Now there is no condemnation because I am in Christ. I can now come boldly before your throne and find grace to help me in every area of my life. It is done! In Jesus name! Amen!

Hung, By The Tongue

All of the promises of God are “yes and amen” to the glory of the Father (2 Corinthians 1:20). God wants to release the promises to us. But, unless we get control of our mouth, it is held up. At first, we are motivated and pumped after we hear the word of God. We begin to speak it for a certain length of time. However, the true test is when the pressure comes and things start changing. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our situation may change, but the word of God and the character of God doesn’t change.

Job 6:24 King James Version says: Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

God will show you, like He did Job, where you have made a mistake concerning what to say. Ask God to put a check in your spirit when you are saying the wrong thing. Speak crop failure to the negative words spoken and start speaking what the word of God says. It is also good to have another believer, friend, or mentor to correct you when you are saying things that are not in line with the word of God. My dad corrects my speech when I say something contrary to the word of God. My Aunt Mary corrects my speech by saying “Who told you that?” or “Where did you get that from?” God also puts a check in my spirit and I correct my speech.

We are the seed of Abraham who called things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:17) Abraham did not grow weak in faith but gave glory to God. Our faith should grow stronger not weaker as time goes by. The only way faith gets stronger is hearing the word daily. God said it and that settles it! Faith also works by love (Galatians 5:6). 1 Corinthians 13 deals with how to walk in love. We need to be reminded daily of it. We can ask God daily to perfect us in love.

I am paraphrasing; Psalm 103:20 says the angels move on our behalf when we speak the word of God. The Living Translation says: Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands.

Angels can’t move when we are complaining or speaking anything that is not in line with the word of God. We are holding things up by what we are saying.

Hung by the tongue!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for never changing. God I repent for saying things that are not in line with the word of God. Lord teach me and I will hold my tongue. God show me where I am missing the mark. God perfect me in love so that my faith can work. God I thank you for placing people in my life to help me in my spiritual growth. I hold on to my confession of faith. I grow stronger in faith by hearing your word. I am fully persuaded like Abraham you do what you say. Your word is true and you cannot lie. I receive in Jesus name! Amen.

Your Current State Do Not Consider. God Will Deliver

It is easy to focus on what is happening around us. However, if we focus on it too long, we can become anxious, frustrated, fearful, stressed out, and it can have a negative effect on the body.

Paraphrasing Matthew 6:25-33 says take no thought for your life what you need to eat or wear because your Heavenly Father knows what you have need of. We seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything will be added to us.

Any challenge or situation that we encounter, we should go to God in prayer and in the word of God about it.

Our spiritual Father Abraham is a great example to follow on focusing on God and seeking the kingdom way of doing things.

Romans 4:19-21 King James Version: 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Abraham focused on the promise of God, not the current circumstance. We should follow his example of growing strong in faith and giving glory to God. Abraham received the promised child. Faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:7), which means it is a daily thing. David in 1 Samuel 17 focused on the reward he would receive, not the giant. He also gave glory to God and remembered how God brought him out of past situations. David defeated the giant.

My Aunt Mary spoke a few Sundays ago on a message titled ‘Defeated the Giant.” She said something that has stuck with me to strengthen me in my faith: “Losers focus on what they are going through, but winners focus on where they are going to.’ That sums it up for us. God always causes us to triumph through Him (2 Corinthians 2:14). We run the race of life looking unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:12)

Your current state do not consider, God will deliver!

Prayer: Lord, I thank you that all of your promises are “Yes” and “Amen.” I am a winner because God, you always causes me to triumph through you. I do not grow weak in my faith, but stronger giving glory to God. I am fully persuaded that what you promised is done. I repent for letting situations define my outcome, living in doubt and unbelief. God just like you feed the birds, you take care of me. I thank you for your finished work. In Jesus name Amen!

In God’s Word, Press! Enter into the Rest!

Definition of press: to apply pressure, push, to take by authority; to insist on or request urgently.

I heard a pastor say what we put a demand on will manifest. When the demand stops, just like in retail business, the supply stops. The only way to see the manifestation, is putting a demand on the word of God. The rest comes in you speaking, meditating, and listening to the word of God on a consistent basis so it can take root in your heart. Just like we eat food at least 3 times a day, we should be taking in our spiritual food (which is the word of God) everyday.

Matthew 4:4: But He answered and said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.’”

We need natural food but we also need spiritual food because we are spirits housed in a body. We can’t make it without the word of God. We will die spiritually and it can have an negative effect on our body naturally.

After we labored in the word, when things come at us or negative thoughts come to our minds, we are not moved; we enter in the rest.

Hebrews 4:11 King James Version: Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

We will stop being anxious, fearful. overthinking when we are resting in God’s finished work. When the storm comes, you can sleep like Jesus did on the boat during the storm. (Matthew 8:23-27) God gives his beloved sweet sleep (Proverbs 3:24). Be like Peter in Acts 12. He was sleeping in prison while the church stayed fervently in prayer. Daniel was asleep surrounded by lions in Daniel 6.

In the word, press! Enter into the rest!

Prayer: Lord, I praise you for your finished work. I labor in the word so I can rest in knowing that it is done. Because your word says it, I believe it, and that settles it. I put a demand on your word until it takes root in my heart which removes fear, doubt. overthinking, anxiousness, strongholds, addictions, and unbelief. I do not live by natural food alone, but by every word that comes from God. I repent for not being diligent in reading your word. I thank you in the midst of the storm and trials like Jesus, Peter, and Daniel. I can sleep because my heart is fixed, trusting in you to carry me through. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God! In Jesus name, Amen.
