Do you want great doors to open for you? It starts with your mouth. God spoke the earth into existence with His words. Words are not just words, it is spirit and life. If you want your life to steer in the right direction, ask God to put a check in your spirit when you speak something that is not in line with the word of God. Even when you are joking you have to be careful. We can’t laugh at everything because it is manifesting things good or bad.
Psalm 141:3 NIV: 3 Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.
Proverbs 18:21 Easy Read Version: 21 The tongue can speak words that bring life or death. Those who love to talk must be ready to accept what it brings.
Job 6:24 Easy Read Version: 24 “So now, teach me, and I will be quiet. Show me what I have done wrong.
Psalm 19:14 King James Version:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
James 3:3-5: 3 Now if we put bits into the horses’ mouths to make them obey us, we guide their whole body as well. 4 And look at the ships. Even though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines. 5 In the same sense, the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things.
Followers of Jesus Christ should guard their hearts and ask God to examine our hearts daily because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth will speak (Matthew 12:34) What we hear, watch, listen to is like meditation, and it will come out of our mouth. Guard your eyes, ears, and mouth. Ask God to help us in areas we are weak in. We can’t afford to look, hear, and speak things that will make our situation worse when we want something different. Proverbs 4:23 New Living Translation: Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Personal Testimony: Each time I get up in the morning it is like a ton of bricks are on me and I don’t want to get up. I began to say “this is the day that the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.” When I speak that every morning, my feelings start to change and I am ready to take on the challenges of the day. My dad used to do this with us every day when I was little going to school. He would turn on the lights early in the morning and say “this is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it! Those words gave me life and the strength to make it through the day.
Fix it at the core, with the mouth it is the door!
Prayer: Lord thank you for speaking the world into existence and breathing life into me. I repent of not guarding my heart and saying things that I don’t want in my life. God set a guard over my mouth and keep the door of my lips. Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight Lord my strength and redeemer. I use my mouth which is the door for great things in my life to turn my situation around. I claim it done in Jesus name! Amen!
