The devil comes to steal, kill, destroy, accuse us, and lie to us. Jesus said in John 16:33 that in this world we will have trouble and then it says, but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world. I read that scripture many times and after listening to an anointed speaker on being joyful, I discovered the remedy to handling trouble in life is to maintain our joy. We can lose heart and be discouraged during the battle when everything is caving in on us. It can be a challenge being joyful through a painful situation. However, as believers, we walk by faith and not by sight. The word of God has keys to maintaining our joy.
Spending time with God in worship/praise and in the word helps maintain your joy.
Psalm 16:11: You will show me the path of life;In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 19:8: The precepts of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Laughter helps maintains your joy and it is healing. Find something to laugh about. Proverbs 17:22: A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Keep your focus on God and His word helps maintain our joy.
Hebrews 11:2-3 Living Translation: 2 Keep your eyes on Jesus, our leader and instructor. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterwards; and now he sits in the place of honor by the throne of God.3 If you want to keep from becoming fainthearted and weary, think about his patience as sinful men did such terrible things to him. 4 After all, you have never yet struggled against sin and temptation until you sweat great drops of blood.
Isaiah 64:4 Amplified Version: For from days of old no one has heard, nor has ear perceived,
Nor has the eye [a]seen a God besides You,Who works and acts in behalf of the one who [gladly] waits for Him.
Personal Testimony: A situation concerning identity theft happened with my finances. My mortgage was due and I didn’t know how I was going to pay it. I was changing the channels on tv and Joel Osteen caught my attention when he said “What was stolen from you, God is going to give it back to you seven times.” I received the word and knew that God was speaking to me. I had a feeling of nervousness and fear, but I kept speaking the word of God: “My God supplies all of my needs according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus.” I kept saying that scripture over and over. Negative thoughts started coming through my mind. I clenched my teeth together and spoke in boldness “My God supplies all of my needs.” All I had was the word of God. God didn’t give me any other instructions. I called the mortgage company on the day it was due and told them I was unable to pay the mortgage due to identity theft. The agent on the phone said “I see your mortgage is paid up for two months.” I had my oldest brother visiting me and my sister. He saw me running around the house rejoicing. Me and my sister were studying on the law of confession. My sister and I spoke to our mailbox. My sister said it will be a check in the mail for us. She opened the mailbox and a check for close to six hundred dollars was in the mail on an old bank account I closed out. Me and my sister desired to fly out of town and that was the rest of the money we needed to travel. God gave me what I needed and what I desired, He was faithful to His word. He did exceedingly, abundantly, above all I could ask or think. By simply holding on to God’s word, meditating God’s word, and speaking it brought the manifestation with my oldest brother witnessing it. I also got the money that was stolen from me!
Victory is near, when you maintain your cheer!
Prayer: God, thank you for what you have done on the cross by sending your son Jesus to save me. Jesus endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him. You left Jesus as an example to follow in His footsteps. I choose to stand on the firm foundation of your word God. No matter how the rain comes and the winds blowing, I will not sink because my faith and trust is in you God as my anchor. I maintain my joy in your presence and have a joyful heart no matter what situation I am in. I fix my gaze on Jesus who is the author and finisher of my faith. You told me in your word, God, that in this life I will have trouble, but you gave me the remedy to be of good cheer . I can rejoice in Jesus because he overcame so can I. In Jesus name! Amen!
