Phrase was inspired by my dad as I was speaking to him about how God has been dealing with me with my words. I told God put a check in my spirit concerning my words. God led me to a teaching called “The Power Of The Word.” God has been cleaning up my speech in a small voice and through others. God used my hair stylist two weeks ago to tell me “Don’t say that,” I thank God for His correction. In our casual talking and even joking we have to be careful what we say because words have power to change situations either good or bad.
James 1; 26 Easy Read Version: 26 You might think you are a very religious person. But if your tongue is out of control, you are fooling yourself. Your careless talk makes your offerings to God worthless. 27 The worship that God wants is this: caring for orphans or widows who need help and keeping yourself free from the world’s evil influence. This is the kind of worship that God accepts as pure and good.
James 3:7-12 Easy Read Version: 7 Humans have control over every kind of wild animal, bird, reptile, and fish, and they have controlled all these things. 8 But no one can control the tongue. It is wild and evil, full of deadly poison. 9 We use our tongues to praise our Lord and Father, but then we curse people who were created in God’s likeness. 10 These praises and curses come from the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, this should not happen. 11 Do good water and bad water flow from the same spring? Of course not. 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree make olives? Or can a grapevine make figs? No, and a well full of salty water cannot give good water.
Proverbs 18:2 NIV: The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Mark 11:23 Amplified Version: I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will].
Romans 4:17 King James Version: (as it is written: “I have made thee a father of many nations”), in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead and calleth those things which are not, as though they were.
Job 6:24 King James Version:24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
Jesus said I only speak what my Father tells me to speak. Are our words heavenly? Are our words pleasing to God? Ask God to help you with your words. Repent when you miss it and get back on the right path. We can speak life into people who are veering off the wrong way. It is so easy to throw people away when they are doing things out of character. However, we draw people back into the kingdom with love and kindness. Our lifestyle draws people into the kingdom. We can run people away with our words. Be led by God when correcting people and consider yourself that you don’t fall into the same pit. Speak the truth in love. Love people, but hate sin.
Do not let your mouth take you south!
Prayer: Thank you God for speaking things into existence to form the heavens and the earth. God, I repent for being loose with my words. God, put a guard over my tongue even when I am joking. I speak only what my Heavenly Father leads me to speak. I speak the word of God over my situation and turn it into The Garden of Eden. Teach me God and I will hold my tongue. Show me where I have made a mistake. In Jesus name! Amen!

Jesus 🙌🏽😭🙌🏽 Put a check in my spirit regarding my tongue always. I want to speak life through your word and only what you give me to speak!
Sharon, I am taking this great word as a conviction for me to also take heed in watching my words. I know I’ve had loose lips that sank ships including my own before. This was so so good and so timely. It brought me back to a message I received earlier in the year that said “My language must be guarded regarding the new level and territory God is calling me to.” I almost forgot but your words helped me to remember. I even wrote and started what I call a Language Lane Assist for me to speak and declare over the things I had been speaking in reverse that was in err.
