Do Not Misplace The Position Of God’s Grace

The phrase came as I was studying and listening to the word of God. God is merciful, loving, and gives grace for us to live victorious as believers over sin. It is not for us to keep sinning and thinking there will be no consequences. We have to repent when we do wrong. Repent means to turn around and began doing what the word of God says. We do not want to stay in sin as believers. The longer we stay in sin the harder it is to get free.

Romans 6:15-19 Easy Read Version: 15 So what should we do? Should we sin because we are under grace and not under law? Certainly not! 16 Surely you know that you become the slaves of whatever you give yourselves to. Anything or anyone you follow will be your master. You can follow sin, or you can obey God. Following sin brings spiritual death, but obeying God makes you right with him. 17 In the past you were slaves to sin—sin controlled you. But thank God, you fully obeyed what you were taught. 18 You were made free from sin, and now you are slaves to what is right. 19 I use this example from everyday life because you need help in understanding spiritual truths. In the past you offered the parts of your body to be slaves to your immoral and sinful thoughts. The result was that you lived only for sin. In the same way, you must now offer yourselves to be slaves to what is right. Then you will live only for God.

It is good to ask God to put a check in your spirit when something is not in line with the word of God. It helps you to examine yourself daily. We are not perfect, but we should strive to live for God who is perfect. We have heard the saying “Follow your heart.” However, following your heart can lead you down the wrong path.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 Living Translation: The heart is the most deceitful thing there is and desperately wicked. No one can really know how bad it is! 10 Only the Lord knows! He searches all hearts and examines deepest motives so he can give to each person his right reward, according to his deeds—how he has lived.

Psalm 139:23-24 NIV: 23 Search me, God, and know my heart;  test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting

The world is alluring and evil can rub off on you quicker than good. How can we as believers overcome sin and live a victorious life? It comes through renewing your mind to the word of God.

Romans 12:2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Psalm 1:1-6 Amplified Version:Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].Not so the wicked [those disobedient and living without God are not so]. But they are like the chaff [worthless, dead, without substance] which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked [those disobedient and living without God] shall not stand [justified] in the judgment, nor [b]sinners in the congregation of the righteous [those who are upright and in right standing with God].For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly [those living outside God’s will] shall perish (end in ruin and come to nought).

Repent when you do wrong and ask God to help you. He is faithful and just to forgive you and clean you up from all sin. God gives us time so we can repent so we won’t spend eternity in hell. Some may not believe there is a hell. You don’t want to take that risk with your life. God is not willing that any should perish but that everyone comes to repentance. Give your life to Jesus before it is too late. Read Romans 10:9-10 to accept Jesus into your life. Once God delivers you do not go back to sin because it will be worse. It can be harder to get out of it and it can cause not only spiritual death but physical death.

John 5:13-14 : 13 The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.14 Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

Matthew 12:43-45: 43 “When an evil spirit comes out of a person, it travels through dry places looking for a place to rest, but it finds none. 44 So it says, ‘I will go back to the home I left.’ When it comes back, it finds that home still empty. It is all neat and clean. 45 Then the evil spirit goes out and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself. They all go and live there, and that person has even more trouble than before. It is the same way with the evil people who live today.”

Romans 6:23 Amplified Version:  23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

I went to church as a child all my life but Jesus was not really in my heart. I did the religious things. I sang in the choir and served as an usher. However, my heart was far from God. I was very judgmental because I was condemned myself. At 18 years of age, I cried out to God and repented. I told God I am not happy with my life. God transformed me as I begin reading His word and spending time in praise /worship. I have never been the same since. I have so much joy. Living a life for God is an adventurous journey full of twists and turns. Even going through trials, I am full of joy and secure in knowing that God will never leave me or forsake me. God always causes me to triumph through Him.

Do not misplace the position of God’s grace!

Prayer: God, thank you for your new mercies every morning. God, I repent for taking you for granted and holding on to sin. God, help me through your word to live a victorious life. God keep me from evil. I guard my heart because out of it comes the issues of life. God, where I am weak you are strong. I rely on your strength not my strength to give me the grace to overcome sin. God search my heart because it is deceitful. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me to the way everlasting. Thanks be to God who always causes me to triumph through Him. In Jesus name! Amen!
