The phrase was inspired by my dad during his quiet time. In the natural realm, gravity says what goes up must come down. In a positive sense speaking God’s word, praying, acting on God’s word, and praising God; the blessings come down. However, the opposite is focusing on our problems, speaking the problems, fear, unbelief, living in the past, pride, hatred, and unforgiveness, can keep us down.
Pride can keep us from going higher in life. King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:25-35 was eating grass and had hair like a beast because he did not humble himself. He gave glory to himself rather than God. After being humbled he gave glory to God. We all have at some point in our lives done things on our own without God and have been humbled. We all have said “I did this” or “I did that” and ended up being humbled. We did like the king in Daniel gave glory to our abilities rather than God. God is displeased with pride.
Proverbs 16:18: Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 29:23: A manβs pride and sense of self-importance will bring him down,
But he who has a humble spirit will obtain honor.
Matthew 23:12: 12 Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be raised to honor.
James 4:6: God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Unforgiveness is another way to keep us from flying high. Forgiveness is for us to move forward. We don’t have to like what was done or be happy about it. However, we should not hold onto it. We should give it to God. God’s vengeance is much better than what we can plan. Bitterness and hatred consume and keep us stagnant. It causes depression, illness death. and anxiety. Ask God for help to get through the pain. God also uses gifted and anointed people to help us through the pain. If we do not forgive others, God can not forgive us (Matthew 6:15). His hands are tied. We reap what we sow. God loved us and forgave us when we did not deserve it. We should do the same. Blessed are the merciful for they will obtain mercy (Matthew 5:7) Love does not keep account of wrongs done to us. We must let it go.
Fear and unbelief will keep us down. God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We can get faith not by praying for faith but, by hearing the word of God from the anointed preacher, teacher, and prophet (Romans 10:17). Reading the word, speaking the word, hearing the word, and meditating the word bring revelation for us to step out in faith. Actions follow what you believe (Mark 16:17) Ask God to help you in areas you struggle in with your faith. Hear the word over and over until your faith is built up to get results.
Mark 9 Jesus dealt with a man who had a boy who was possessed by an evil spirit that caused him to roll around on the ground and foam at the mouth. The man said to Jesus “if you can do anything take pity on us and help us.” Jesus answered the man “if you can?” “All things are possible to them that believe.” The man said, “I do believe but help my unbelief.” Jesus rebuked the foul spirit and it came out of the boy.
The anointed pastor I listened to gave a great example of God taking us from faith to faith glory to glory. The pastor mentioned God will meet you where you are with your faith not where you pretend to be. A man was sick in the hospital and the pastor asked him:”what can you believe God for concerning your healing? “He said each day he was getting worse and he wants to get a little better. The pastor prayed and agreed with his request. A good report came back that he was better. The man told the pastor to pray again that he gets better than before. The report came and he was better than before. The pastor came back days later looking for the man and the doctor said the man fully recovered and is out of the hospital. Healing manifested for the man.
Remain humble; God gets the glory. Forgive, remain in love, and give your pain to God so he can restore you. Build your faith up by hearing the word of God and allow God’s perfect love to cast out fear. If you sin repent and get back on track; there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ.
Prayer: God I allow you to lead and guide me. I repent for being prideful and doing things on my own. I forgive so I can be forgiven and give my anger/hurt over to you to handle my situation. I repent when I fall and get back on the right track. I let your perfect love cast all fear and unbelief in my life. I rise higher in you in Jesus’ name! Amen.
