When You Are Under Attack, God’s Got Your Back!

God is amazing. God gave my dad the phrase for the blog while reading Psalm 91. Thank God for daily bread and new mercies every morning. Like a natural mother who cares, protects, corrects, gives, and loves their child/children, God is the same way about His children. All we have to do is come to Him. As children and adults, we have been disobedient to our mothers and suffered the consequences. However, our mother would still accept us as God does. Jesus said if you come to me, I will not cast you aside (John 6:37). There is protection under the covering of a godly and loving mother. It is the same with God. Certain traps and situations we could have avoided if we had listened. God’s got our back like a mother does when we are under attack. We can run to Him for safety and refuge.
Psalm 91:1-3 Easy Read Version: You can go to God Most High to hide. You can go to God All-Powerful for protection.2 I say to the Lord, “You are my place of safety, my fortress. My God, I trust in you.” 3 God will save you from hidden dangers and deadly diseases.4 You can go to him for protection. He will cover you like a bird spreading its wings over its babies. You can trust him to surround and protect you like a shield.
We all have things we go through sometimes. Specific attacks can leave us feeling helpless. The good news is when we run to God instead of away from God. He protects and keeps your sanity. An influential evangelist Marilyn Hickey said, when you go through attacks, “You don’t want to backslide, you want to in slide” to God and to people who can help you. We need each other. Get godly counsel from a person you can trust. The word says to rejoice when you come under attack for living godly because we know the reward is great.
It could be something you have done to open the door to the attack. Our nature when we have done something wrong is to hide and isolate ourselves, as Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden. However, it only makes things worse. Instead, go to God and the person you have wronged to confess what you’ve done wrong. Get a person you can trust that has the wisdom of godly counsel. A person that will not condemn you but correct you in love as a mother does. Pastor Gaines said there had been times in the bible where people repented and cried out to God, and God overturned His judgment on them. A mother does the same thing.
Psalm 91:14-16 Easy Read Version: 14 The Lord says, “If someone trusts me, I will save them.I will protect my followers who call to me for help.15 When my followers call to me, I will answer them. I will be with them when they are in trouble.I will rescue them and honor them.16 I will give my followers a long life and show them my power to save.”
Mothers say, “If you had trusted me, I could have protected you.” Children cry out to their mothers, and they come to their rescue. God is the same way. Read Psalm 91 in its entirety.
When you are under attack, God’s got your back!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being the Great I am. Thank you for loving me like a mother unconditionally. I rejoice when I come under attack for living godly because it is for your glory and the reward is great. God, I repent for doing things on my own and not trusting you. I repent for any attacks I am experiencing that I caused, allowing the devil access to bring havoc to my life. I ask for your grace and mercy. I cry out to you, and you rescue me from trouble. I give you the praise, glory, and honor in Jesus’ name! Amen.
