Webster’s definition of merry: is full of gladness or high spirits.
Proverbs 17:22: 22 A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones.
We have four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. Just like Ecclesiastes 3 says, we all go through seasons in our lives. Yet, whatever season we are in, we can still have joy.
Some are going through winter. It seems dark and cold, and things are dried up and dead in your life. The good news is God is with us, Emmanuel.
Psalm 23:4 Easy Read Version: 4 Even if I walk through a valley as dark as the grave,
I will not be afraid of any danger because you are with me. Your rod and staff[ comfort me.
Psalm 139:8 New King James: 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Holman version: 6 Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified of them. For the Lord your God who goes with you will not leave or forsake you.”
Joshua 1:5 Amplified Version: 5 No man will [be able to] stand before you [to oppose you] as long as you live. Just as I was [present] with Moses, so will I be with you; I will not fail or abandon you.
Isaiah 43:2 Living Translation: 2 When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up—the flames will not consume you.
We can take joy in knowing that no matter our weather, God is with us and will not let us fall. We can take comfort in knowing the winter in our lives turns into spring. The rain comes, and it will not be dry anymore. Things will spring and grow in our lives, and the sun will shine again like the summer. Harvest time comes like the fall. Hallelujah! Remember, God is with us every day and this Christmas season.
Be merry together, no matter the weather!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being with me in every situation. To everything, there is a season and time. I choose to be merry no matter my season because it is medicine to my whole being. I can smile because God is with me through every dark season. I give you the praise. In Jesus’ name! Amen.
