My Aunt Mary sent teaching for me to meditate on concerning resting in God. God led me to Psalm 62 Friday morning, confirming what I have been listening to.
Psalm 62:5-8 NIV: 5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.7 My salvation and honor depend on God[; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
I sang a song at my childhood church when I was a teen by the late Lee Williams, “I Learned to Lean on Jesus” One of the verses says, “Oh what a blessedness, Oh what a peace of mind, leaning on Jesus everlasting arms.” Isaiah 26:3 says he will keep you in perfect peace whose mind stays on Him because they trust Him. In the song, Lee Williams said he started leaning on his sister and mother and realized he had nobody he could lean on. Jeremiah 17:5-8 cursed is every man who put their trust in man but blessed is the man who put their trust in God
People and things will fail you. However, God will never fail you. In the song ” I Learned to Lean on Jesus,” I love the lyrics that said, “For if I trust Him He will provide” True trust is knowing that God’s word is true and resting in God’s finished work. It comes through hearing, meditating, and speaking the word of God. It will uproot anything that is not in line with His word.
Just this week, I said, “when I get my check.” An inner voice said, “God is my source not my job.” I am operating under a curse because a job is man-made and can fail. I immediately got back in line and operated in the blessing, declaring God is my source and I am the seed of Abraham and an heir. I said it is given to me and in abundance because I give. I declared because the Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing. My soul is prospering just from me taking in the word throughout the day, and it is uprooting what is not like God. Remember, we prosper as our soul prospers. I heard a pastor say we don’t get what we want; we attract the image inside us even though we want something different. As a person thinks in their heart, so it is Proverbs 23:7. For example, if I want a Godly man with integrity, I have to change the image that there are no good men out there. I also have to live a Godly life and walk in integrity because we reap what we sow. I must change the image of not having enough if I want abundance. Let us allow the word of God to transform us and cut out any image that is not of God.
I must, in God, put my trust!
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for your living word and for bringing light to dark areas. God, I repent for thinking about things that are not like you. I cast down every thought and anything that is not in line with your word. I trust in your finished work. I am prospering my soul as I take in your word daily. The word of God is uprooting images that are not in line with the word of God and transforming the world around me. I don’t trust people and things because they can and will fail me. I trust in you, God, and operate in the blessing. In Jesus’ name! Amen.
