Hung, By The Tongue

All of the promises of God are “yes and amen” to the glory of the Father (2 Corinthians 1:20). God wants to release the promises to us. But, unless we get control of our mouth, it is held up. At first, we are motivated and pumped after hearing God’s word. We begin to speak it for a certain length of time. However, the actual test is when the pressure comes, and things start changing. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our situation may change, but the word of God and the character of God doesn’t change.

Job 6:24 King James Version says: Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

God will show you like He did Job, where you have made a mistake concerning what to say. Ask God to put a check on your spirit when you are saying the wrong thing. Speak crop failure to the negative words spoken and start speaking what the word of God says. It is also good to have another believer, friend, or mentor correct you when you are saying things that are not in line with the word of God. My dad corrects my speech when I say something contrary to the word of God. My Aunt Mary corrects my speech by saying, “Who told you that?” or “Where did you get that from?” God also checks my spirit, and I correct my speech.

We are the seed of Abraham who called things not as they were (Romans 4:17). Abraham did not grow weak in faith but gave glory to God. Our faith should grow stronger, not weaker, as time goes by. The only way faith gets stronger is by hearing the word daily. God said it, and that settles it! Faith also works by love (Galatians 5:6). 1 Corinthians 13 deals with how to walk in love. We need to be reminded daily of it. We can ask God daily to perfect us in love.

I am paraphrasing; Psalm 103:20 says the angels move on our behalf when we speak the word of God. The Living Translation says: Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands.

Angels can’t move when we are complaining or speaking anything that is not in line with the word of God. So we are holding things up by what we are saying.

Hung by the tongue!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for never changing. God, I repent for saying things that are not in line with the word of God. Lord teach me, and I will hold my tongue. God, show me where I am missing the mark. God perfect me in love so that my faith could work. God, I thank you for placing people in my life to help me in my spiritual growth. I hold on to my confession of faith. I grow stronger in faith by hearing your word. I am fully persuaded, like Abraham, you do what you say. Your word is true, and you cannot lie. I receive in Jesus’ name! Amen.
