Pastor Gaines taught last Sunday on being a fisherman for lost souls as a believer in Jesus. The phrase for the blog came to me one morning. God spoke to me the next morning to view lost people that do not know Jesus as a mother longing for a difficult son/daughter to change or come back home. We as believers should have the same heart as God, bringing His children back to Him. We are made in His image and likeness. I teared up thinking about God’s love towards us. It is just like a mother’s love for her children. True mothers only want the best for their son/daughter and do not want to see them hurt or self-destruct. God is the same way.
John 3:16-17 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10)
It came to me about the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15 (I advise to read the complete chapter). Jesus mentioned about a person having a hundred sheep and one is missing and how he goes back to find the sheep. Once the sheep is found, the person rejoices saying “I have found my lost sheep.” Jesus said heaven rejoices over one sinner that repents than 99 persons who don’t need to repent.
I thought about a mother with her children, and one running off. Even though the mother has other children, she still goes back and looks for the missing child. On this Mother’s Day, let us remember moms, grandmothers, aunts, and every mother who gave us love. The mothers who prayed for us, gave us words of wisdom, disciplined us to keep us on the right path, showed patience, and loves unconditionally. Most important remember God’s love towards us.
Win souls, that is the goal!
Prayer: God, thank you for loving me and for giving your only Son Jesus as a sacrifice and saving me. God, you are not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance. Just like a mother wants the best for their children, you want the best for us. God let your love flow through me. God, I repent for not showing enough concern for the lost and only thinking of myself. God, I take advantage of every opportunity to bring lost souls into the kingdom of God. Heaven rejoices over one sinner coming to God. Thank you, God, for your unconditional love. In Jesus name! Amen
