In life, things can be going right. Then, suddenly, it goes left. Something devastating, unexpected, and disappointing can happen out of nowhere. Things started, hopefully. We had plans and goals to accomplish. Then suddenly, everything went left. The coronavirus spread. There are vast amounts of death. Businesses, as well as homes, are in financial trouble. Parents are still adjusting to teaching children from home. Racism is out in the open. People are dealing with depression. We are limited on where we can go. The list goes on and on. The good news is that God is a keeper. We can trust Him to get us through trying times.
Webster’s meaning: Keep-(1) To retain in one’s position or power; to have control (2) to preserve and maintain. (3) to watch over and defend. (4) to take care of.
How can we retain our power? Psalm 55:22 Amplified Version: Cast your burden on the Lord [release it], and He will sustain and uphold you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail).
How can we maintain and preserve our minds under challenging times? Isaiah 26:3 New King James: You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.
How does God defend/fight for us and watch over us? Psalm 91:10-11 Amplified Version: Because you have made the Lord, [who is] my refuge, Even the Highest, your dwelling place,10 No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent.11 For He will command His angels regarding you, To protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service].
What does it say in the word of God about God taking care of us? Psalm 23:1 Amplified Version: The Lord is my ShepherdShepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me], I shall not want.
Kurt Carr’s “I Almost Let Go” came to me. I started praising God for His keeping power. I love the verse in the song.
I almost let go
I felt like I couldn’t take life anymore
My problems had me bound
Depression weighed me down, But God held me close
So I wouldn’t let go
God’s mercy kept me
So I wouldn’t let go, So I’m here today because God kept me
I’m alive today only because of His grace
Oh, He saved me; God saved me
He kept me; God kept me
He kept me; God kept me; he kept me
God held me, He kept me
So I wouldn’t let go
When things go left, it is good to be kept!
Prayer: Thank you, God, for another new word. Your mercies are new every morning. Lord, I repent for allowing challenges in life to get the best of me. I choose to keep my mind on you to get me through difficult times. I will enable you to be a present help for me when I am in trouble. I take refuge in you. I cast everything on you so you can keep my mind and give me peace. I trust you to be the ShepherdShepherd that provides, guides, and protects me. Lord be merciful unto me. Bless and keep me. Cause your face to shine upon me. I thank you for your keeping power! In Jesus’ name! Amen.
Hallelujah and Amen for this great word and inspiration! It is indeed an incredible feeling to be kept and covered by the Lord God when all around us seems dark and in ruin.
This year hasn’t been as easy or beautiful for many of us but we are still blessed nonetheless. God has been preserving those He still has purpose and assignments for and I’m thankful to be in that count. I’m thankful that you and your family are in that count. God bless
To God Be the glory!
