I have heard people who did not have a father present in their lives express the pain and hurt it caused. The good news is we have a Heavenly Father. For those who have not received Him into their lives, all you must do is confess/repent of your sins, confess Him as Lord of your life, believe with your heart to receive Him. Then you are in the family (Romans 10:9-10). For those who have received Him, let us remind ourselves of who Our Heavenly Father is. Sometimes we must remind ourselves and spend more time with our Father to know Him.
Romans 5:8 NIV 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Just like a natural father makes sacrifices for his children, our Heavenly Father sacrificed His only Son Jesus to die for our sins so that we can live a victorious life through trusting in Him. His Son’s death saved our souls from Hell. That is is enough to walk with our heads held high. Who would not want to know a father like that?
Matthew 5:31-33 Easy Read Version 31 “Don’t worry and say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 That’s what those people who don’t know God are always thinking about. Do not worry, because your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things. 33 What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need.
People who are in the kingdom of God know that our Heavenly Father is our provider, just like an earthly father who provides for his children. We do not have to be concerned about our needs because our Heavenly Father provides for His children.
I John 5:14-15 Amplified Version 14 This is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us. 15 And if we know [for a fact, as indeed we do] that He hears and listens to us in whatever we ask, we [also] know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted to us] the requests which we have asked from Him.
All we must do is ask our Heavenly Father for things. As long it is according to His will, He will give it to us just like a natural father. True fathers will not give us things that are not good for us, but instead will give us what is best for us.
Matthew 7:9-11 CSB Version: 9 Who among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.
Just like an earthly father gives good things to his children, our Heavenly Father wants to give us good things. All we must do is ask.
Psalm 121:7-8 NIV 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Our Heavenly Father protects us and keeps us from harm just like an earthly father does.
Proverbs 3:12 for the LORD disciplines the one he loves, just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights.
We also receive correction from our Heavenly Father for our wellbeing. A natural father disciplines his children out of love and wants the best for his children.
Let us honor our Heavenly Father for His sacrificial love and protection. For providing our needs, giving us good things, and for correcting us for our wellbeing. If you have not received Him into your life, do so now. He is the best Father you can ever have.
My brother has a saying he uses with a little bit of humor every time he receives a blessing: “You don’t know my father!” Even through challenges, he would use that same saying. It is a running humor in our family, but it is symbolic of him recognizing his true heavenly father.
Do you know your father?!
Prayer: Thank you Heavenly Father for being my provider. Lord, I thank you for being my protector. I thank you God when I ask anything according to your will which is the word of God you hear my prayer and grant my request. I repent for being afraid to ask for you for things when it is your pleasure to give me good things. I receive your love. In Jesus name! Amen.
