I woke up yesterday morning, and Psalm 81 and the title for today’s blog came to me.
Psalm 81: 8-16 Easy Read Version says 8, “My people, I am warning you. Israel, listen to me!9 Do not worship any of the false gods that the foreigners worship. 10 I, the Lord, am your God. I brought you out of Egypt. Israel, open your mouth, and I will feed you.11 “But my people did not listen to me. Israel did not obey me.12 So I let them go their stubborn way and do whatever they wanted.13 If my people would listen to me and live the way I want,14, I would defeat their enemies. I would punish those who cause them trouble.15 Those who hate the Lord would shake with fear. They would be punished forever. 16 I would give the best wheat to my people. I would give them the purest honey until they were satisfied.
God is ready to release the things to us and handle our enemies, but as people of God, we must get rid of whatever idol it is that is keeping us from receiving the best. We must listen to what God is saying & worship Him only. Not money, other people, or things because God created all those things. We, as people of God, cannot put anything before Him. We must ask ourselves, “What am I putting before God?” Whatever we are putting before God is an idol.
Romans 12:2 Amplified Version: 2 And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs] but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
1 John 2:15-17 Christian English Bible 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them. 16 Everything in the world—the craving for whatever the body feels, the craving for whatever the eyes see, and the arrogant pride in one’s possessions—is not of the Father but the world. 17 And the world and its cravings are passing away, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.
We are spiritual beings made in the image of God. The things on this earth won’t last, but our eternity with God does. Spending time with God and renewing our minds daily to God’s way of doing things will help us stay focused. Whatever you spend most of your time on is what you will desire. We are the light of the world. God wants our light to shine so that the people who do not know God would desire to know Him when they see God working in our lives.
Some may wonder, “How do I hear from God?” It starts with the word of God; Psalm 119:105 Easy Read Version says Your word is like a lamp that guides my steps, a light that shows the path I should take.
Proverbs 3:6-7 Easy Read Version makes it plain: 5 Trust the Lord entirely, and don’t depend on your knowledge. 6 With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. 7 Do not trust your wisdom; fear and respect the Lord and stay away from evil.
God also speaks when things are quiet. Early mornings are quiet. Proverbs 8:17 King James Version says 17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Another time God speaks is when you put your all into what you are doing. Jeremiah 29:13 New King James Version: And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
Finally, if there is any sin as believers, we must confess it to hear God. Psalm 66:18 Amplified Version says If I regard sin and baseness in my heart [that is, if I know it is there and do nothing about it], The Lord will not hear [me].
It is time for us as people of God to truly live a life of trusting and obeying the word of God. Only then will we receive the best God has for us. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God Romans 10:17.
God blesses His people for His glory and to draw people who do not know Him to the kingdom of God.
The release is near if God’s people will hear!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your infinite wisdom. I repent for putting people and things before you. Any sin blocking me from hearing you clearly reveals it to me. I am obedient to what you tell me to do. I listen, read and meditate on your word to build my faith. In Jesus’ name! Amen.
