We are held accountable regarding what we do with what we have. What does the word of God say about using what we have? It all started in the beginning when God created heaven and earth.
Genesis 1:28 New King James Version: 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
God already blessed us, but He want us to be productive with what we have, multiply it, subdue (take control), and take ownership over it. When we work with what we have God can give us more. I have two examples in the bible regarding using what we have and being productive with it.
John 6:11-13 New King James Version (Jesus Feeds the 5000): So, the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” 13 Therefore they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
Jesus first gave thanks to God for what He had. We should follow Jesus’ example and before we do anything with what we have (money, talent, gifts, food etc.), we should pray giving God thanks. Jesus started dividing what He had and giving it to the people until it multiplied and there were leftovers. We should use what we have and as we divide/ give, it will be multiplied. Jesus manifested Luke 8:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
The Parable of the Talents:
Matthew 25:14-29:14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has ten talents.29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
We must be faithful with what we have, and God can trust us with more. If we are not faithful, then what we have will be taken away. God gives us more so we can be a blessing to others. We should not hoard what we have and keep it to ourselves.
Expand what is in your hand!
Prayer: Lord, I thank you that when I bring what I have to you, it is multiplied. I repent for not be a great steward over what you gave me. I am fruitful, I multiply what I have and replenish the earth. I thank you for the blessing. In Jesus name! Amen!
