It is time to put the ax to the root of things holding us back. We can start with the word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 KJV 12 For the word of God is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
A good book of the bible to read is Proverbs. You can gain wisdom and correction in areas in which you may need help. I used to read a chapter a day. Some things mentioned in Proverbs will cut you. As my dad would say, “Ouch.” But it is necessary to gain wisdom and victory in certain areas we need success.
I love watching suspense, thriller, and action movies because they teach you how to fight.
One of the things I noticed that caused some movie characters to lose was when they got caught up in their emotions. It could be anger, division, unforgiveness, or it could be lust where they were tricked, and they were defeated. The characters that maintained control of their emotions and did not allow anything to distract them would always win. The characters would use wisdom to win rather than act off impulse.
In the spirit realm, the only thing that should move us is the word of God, not circumstances.
Psalm 62:6 KJV says He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved.
We get wisdom from the word of God by meditating and speaking the word. Then, God will give you the instructions needed to gain victory.
I also noticed some characters in movies were bold. They faced their problems head-on and never backed down from a fight. The characters kept going. They may have lost a few people/ things along the way and may have some scars/bruises, but they fought to the finish.
Hebrews 10:36-38 NIV Version says 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.” [ 38 And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back. ]39 But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.
That is enough to rejoice over. God does not take pleasure in those who back down and give up. If we mess up, we repent and get back up. If you want to please God, walk by faith because it is impossible to please Him without it.
Proverbs 24:16 Christian Standard Version says 16 Though a righteous person falls seven times, he will get up.
Righteous people can fall, but they do not have to stay there. The righteous get back up. There is no time to wallow in self-pity and condemnation. Repent, start to the path of God, and rise again. There is no condemnation of those that are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 10:11 NIV says, “Anyone who believes in Him (Jesus) will never be put to shame.” [
After you repent and start trusting in God, you will come out on top, and people will glorify how powerful your God is. God is cheering you on.
I also noticed in some movies the characters would go in and out of time within a day or in minutes.
I thought about the scripture 2 Peter 3:8-9 With the Lord, one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting to perish but all to come to repentance.
God revealed to me that he gives us time to get back on track, but if we walk in faith, it overrides time. God can do for you some things that can take years in a matter of a day, an hour, minutes, to seconds.
That is enough to shout about. Faith is always now.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now” faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Now is the time. Now is the day of salvation. God is waiting on us to get it together and fight the good fight of faith, so he can release what he has already done for us.
I also noticed that there were some things the characters in the movies would keep quiet about to win the battle. There were some things that the characters would not tell their closest friend because the characters knew they would not understand and would try to stop them. But, after they defeated the enemy, then they would speak. Some things are to be kept only between you and God.
Isaiah 30:15 Amplified Version: 15 For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel has said, “In returning [to Me] and rest you shall be saved, In quietness and confident trust is your strength. “But you were not willing.
We can talk ourselves out of what God has for us by discussing it with the wrong people. Ask God to check your spirit on when to speak and when to keep quiet. He will do it.
Jesus left us an example to follow in His footsteps. John 12:49 Jesus said For I have not spoken on My authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should talk. 50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. So, therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, I say.”
Unless God gives us what to say, we should be silent, rest, and trust in God until He gives us what to say and when.
We also must be willing and obedient to receive the best in life.
Isaiah 1:19-20 says 19 If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land; 20 But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
We get devoured by things in life because we refuse to trust God, and are not willing nor obedient to the word of God. We must trust God. We must be confident in His ability, not our ability, and we must patiently and quietly wait on God to give us what to do to remain strong and defeat the giants in our life.
In most superhero movies, when the superhero characters did not trust their inner strength, trust in their ability, or tried to do what another person was doing, or got prideful, they were defeated. However, when they relied on their inner strength (for the people of God, God’s strength), they got the victory.
You cannot defeat the giants in your own power. It must be in the power of God. It keeps you humble and gives glory to God, not yourself. Remember, “Your Kingdom Will Crumble, If You Don’t Stay Humble.”
You can go back to the blog on April 29, 2018, “Be Defiant, Slay the Giant,” about David and Goliath. It also has the scripture about the armor of God to fight spiritually. We do not fight people. We come against the spirit that is operating in them. Sometimes you must come against evil spirits operating in your own self.
July 4 is coming upon us. Let us walk in the freedom and liberty God has given us.
Ask God to reveal the root of the problem, cut off the head with the word of God, and all the other things in our lives will fall into place.
Kill it Dead, Cut Off the Head!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for another day to fight the good fight of faith. I use the word of God as my weapon to cut the head of the giants in my life. Because I trust in your word, I will not be moved. I thank you, God; you always cause me to triumph. In Jesus’ name! Amen.
