Fast And Pray, God Will Show You The Way

 It is time for the rain to bring life to the areas that have been dry and dead.

With some challenges, you tried everything but with no success. In Matthew 17, the disciples tried to cast out demons but could not.  The disciples asked Jesus privately why they could not cast out the demons like He did. Jesus stated because of their faith level. Jesus told the disciples that this kind only comes out by prayer and fasting.

In 2 Chronicles 20 Jehoshaphat had a huge army coming up against his people that he could not handle and did not know what to do.

Jehoshaphat got in prayer and proclaimed a fast among his people. Everyone participated and stood in prayer before God. Then the spirit of the Lord spoke to Jahaziel as they stood in the assembly together.  The bible says where two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus, He is in the midst.

God spoke to Jahaziel saying do not be afraid of the large army. For the battle is not yours but God’s.  He was instructed by God for his people to march to face the army tomorrow, and they will not have to fight this battle.  When Jehoshaphat and his people got a word from God they began to worship and praise Him. After getting a word from God, they were able to have faith to conquer the army without having to fight and won the battle.

Fasting is removing distractions out the way in order to hear the voice of God. You can fast half a day, a full day, or longer in order to get direction from God. You can do without a meal, eat just vegetables/ light foods, doing without the media, television, or anything that will distract you from hearing the voice of God. The time that you would normally be on the media will be replaced with praise, worship, praying, meditating on scripture and listening to teaching to build your faith in order to hear from God.

Isaiah 58:6-11 says NIV a true fast. 

⁶ “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to lose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? ⁷ Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? ⁸ Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.⁹ Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk,¹⁰ and if you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.¹¹ The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.

It is time to charge our spiritual battery in order to receive power to move out on faith.

Prayer: Lord I praise you because you are all powerful. God, I quiet myself down so I can hear your voice. The strongholds in my life I break the chains through prayer and fasting. I thank you for my deliverance in Jesus’ name! Amen.
